Normally when you right-click on a TrueType font and choose Properties, you'll receive some basic information about the font. With a new utility from Microsoft, you can get more detailed information.
Windows 95 didn't include the Font Smoothing utility. You had to buy the Plus Pack to get a copy. But you can also download it for free from Microsoft's Web site. This utility will anti-alias TrueType fonts to make them less jaggy. Note that it does require that you set your video driver to more than 256 colors. For those using Windows NT, this utility is built-in and can be accessed on the Plus tab of the Display Control Panel applet.
Microsoft has also developed a series of fonts optimized for use on the Web. The best news is that you can download them all for free! You'll also find a number of fonts containing the Euro symbol.
Visit Microsoft's Typography Site for complete details.
If you want to use PostScript fonts and you aren't using Windows 2000, you'll need some flavor of Adobe Type Manager. Adobe offers ATM Lite for free download.
We've created several font groups for Font Navigator, the great font management program that comes with CorelDRAW 8, Corel WordPerfect 8 and Corel Ventura Publisher 8. To save you time in creating your own, feel free to download ours. Note that these are font packs and not the actual fonts. You'll have to supply the fonts yourself. If you have a font pack that you'd like to share, e-mail it to us with a brief description.
