Digital Photography Boot Camp
It isn't uncommon within companies to have various things going on behind the scenes. That is certainly the case here at Unleashed. One of the ideas that we've been bouncing around for a while is a boot camp dedicated to digital photography.
Anytime we are putting together an agenda there is extensive discussion on what topics should be covered. This topic is certainly no exception. I'll throw out some of the issues and I'd love to get your input on what you would like to see.
In a class of no more than 12 people it wouldn't be uncommon for every user to have a different camera. How can we best teach you more about using the camera you have? Basically our goal is to provide you the information for taking the best pictures possible with the camera you already own.
Would you find it helpful if we have field trips where the class goes to a nearby location to shoot some pictures? What is it that you need to photograph the most?
Once you have taken some good pictures, you'll probably want to do some editing. To date the main focus of our teaching has been CorelDRAW and Corel PHOTO-PAINT. Now Corel has purchased Paint Shop Pro and it seems to us to be a better fit for digital photography in the current versions. Should we cover how to edit in just one of the products or both? If only one, which would be your preference?
What are the things you need to learn how to edit? For example, red eye is one common issue that we would cover.
Are there other areas you think we need to include in a digital photography boot camp?
I'll await your comments as we shape this idea into reality.

While all digital cameras are different they all function similarly, although the SLR's have many more possible settings than the basic models. A lesson on the correct settings action, portrait, etc would be beneficial.
Another "focus" could be setting the camera to the correct format size for the end use of the image.
Yet another topic could be post editing what format should you save the image in vs. what you will do with the image, printing, email, web design etc....
I personally use Photo-Paint for edit work. Is the newer package better for "new" users vs advanced users? Maybe a "beginners" camp and an "advanced" camp?
I would be interested in a boot camp that covered post processing in both Corel Photo-Paint (I have ver.11) and Paint Shop Pro9. It should be an in-depth course.... along the lines of what Ron Reznick with Nikon Capture in his book "DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY, Aquisition and Processing Techniques"
Two to four days would be about right
