Hump Day Hardware: Webcam
I was traveling last week and found myself in the need of a new Web cam. My old one just wouldn't play nicely with Vista. Sometimes I could get the video to work, but not always. Plus the driver just didn't support the microphone at all. I did some searching around and decided on the Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000.The instructions for installation were easy enough to follow. It did take a very long time to install the drivers, but I just set my laptop down and did something else during this period. Once the installation was done, I plugged in the camera and it worked great.
Since then I've used the camera with several applications and the video quality was very good. I've spent hours talking naturally into the microphone and people on the other end have heard me just fine. Overall, I've been thrilled with the camera! Previous cameras I've used were always lacking something. One had no microphone. None had the greatest video quality. And they always had driver issues that required me to reinstall them quite often. This camera has been rock solid and I highly recommend it!
