Weekend Widget: Tube Ex
One of the cool features in Corel PHOTO-PAINT is the ability to paint with the Image Sprayer. Your brush is actually a series of images that can be sprayed onto the page in a variety of ways. Corel supplies a number of sprayers with Corel PHOTO-PAINT and there are a few third parties that also make sprayers available.
Unfortunately the number available is tiny compared to the number of "tubes" available for Corel Paint Shop Pro. For whatever reason, third parties have created huge numbers of tubes. Even though Corel has owned both products for several years now, there is no way to use tubes in Corel PHOTO-PAINT.
Well, there is a way to make tubes work, it just takes a cool utility and a little time. The strange thing is that it is very difficult to even find the utility any more as the creator of the program doesn't seem to have it available on their Web site any longer. You can find Tube Ex and a great little tutorial for how to use it on the Graphic Allusions Web site. Since Graphic Allusions makes a bunch of tubes, it is no surprise that they are hoping you find the utility useful so that you will buy some of their tubes. Make sure to read the "Update" on their site about downloading Tube Ex as it explains an alternative download location and the only location I've found that works.
If you have any cool tubes or image sprayers, please let me know as I would love to share them (for free or pay) with the community.
