Thursday Tip: Smart Duplicate
There are times I wish I could duplicate myself. It would provide more time in the day! Puerto Vallarta is now in the rear view mirror as the CorelDRAW Unleashed Boot Camp Cruise sails towards Long Beach, California. That means we have a full day in the classroom on the ship later today.
Smart Duplicate often catches users by surprise. They consider it a bug because they didn't expect it to happen. Press Ctrl + D to duplicate an object. That works as expected. Now move, resize, rotate or make other modifications to the duplicate. Press Ctrl + D again. Not only will you get another duplicate, but notice that the duplicated object is also transformed with the same manner as the previous duplicate. Until you deselect the object, Ctrl + D will continue to produce smart duplicates.
Today is a big day for me. That's right, it's my birthday. I don't often ask much from readers except for a blog comment every now and then. Occasionally I'll be asked if there is a way to provide thanks for the content I provide. A thank you e-mail is always appreciated. For those who want to do something more, I've provided a donate button below that allows you to send me cold hard cash. How about a dollar for every year of my age? Huh? What you described is just normal duplication. I don't see the "smart" part. Whatever is selected, is duplicated. So when you duplicate, the new object is now selected. You alter that object and Ctrl D, that is the object that gets duped. Am I missing something?

Yes, you are missing something. Please read the post again as Smart Duplicate only kicks in AFTER you do something to a duplicated object.
