Removing the White Box Revisited

This is a tutorial topic that we've already visited before. Yet it remains the question I hear over and over again. How do I remove the white box around my images? So today we have two tutorials that address the issue. First is my Getting Rid of That Darned White Box tutorial. Jeff Harrison has a similar tutorial showing how to cut out a cow and to even recolor the cow. He even throws in the cow for free. Oh, and there is a movie that goes with it. These tutorials show you the basic technique, but it is this same technique that is used for even the most complex situations where you need to cut something out.

Thanks for the great tutorial on getting rid of the white box. The tutorial ends with the image without the white box background in CorelDraw. I then had to convert the .cdr file into a file I could use on a Web site. To do this, I used the Export for Office feature and converted it to a .png file. It seemed this was the only way I could covert the file and preserve the no white box condition. Is converting the file to a .png the only option?

Clive,

If your goal is to use the graphic on a Web site, I never would have imported the file into CorelDRAW. I would have simply saved it from PHOTO-PAINT to either GIF or PNG format. As JPG does NOT support transparency, it won't work.
