Sunday Stock: Stick Figure Volume 1

Drive around the United States and you will often see a vinyl sticker on the back window of vehicles with various stick figures representing the make up of the family inside. How would you like a whole disc loaded with stick figures so that you could create those signs easily for your customers? If so, I've got the perfect disc for you. Stick Figure Volume 1 contains 500 different stick figures in a number of different categories. This means the family can be represented in different styles. Plus each of the graphics is supplied in all popular vector and cutting formats. No sign shop should be without this collection of artwork!

Sunday Stock: Digital Design Ware

We have added a wide variety of clip art, textures, templates and more to the Graphics Unleashed Web site this week.

This artwork is geared towards those in the sign and vehicle wrap industries, but it can certainly be useful to other artists as well. Probably the coolest feature is taking a two-dimensional template for a vehicle wrap and turning it into a 3D rendering of the finished wrap with only a few clicks. Typically 3D software is baffling to me. But this is a task so simple that anyone can create a 3D rendering in only a couple of minutes.

So not only can you get the templates and artwork to create some amazing wraps, you can also create a rendering that is sure to convince your client to order the wrap. Check it out, I think you'll find something you can use!

The Weekly Graphics Unleashed Blog Schedule

I told you earlier this week that I would be making some changes to this blog. I've always felt that I didn't post often enough. When something came along, I'd write about it. I just think that I can give you more information on a more regular basis. In order to do this, I've put together a schedule for what to cover on each day of the week. Certainly if there is something really important that comes along, I'll have an additional post on a given day. I'm sure there will be days when I'm just too busy to follow the schedule. For now, my weekly schedule is listed below. I'll start following it on Monday, July 21.

Macro Monday: I'll discuss a useful macro for CorelDRAW and/or Corel PHOTO-PAINT. Heck, it might even be for other software if I feel that it would be useful for many of you.
Tutorial Tuesday: I will search high and low for a tutorial that will teach you something useful about graphics software. It might be something on the Graphics Unleashed site, it might be on another site.
Hump Day Hardware: The last I checked, we all use computers to help us create our graphics. Each Wednesday, I'll focus on a piece of useful computer hardware. It could be something really inexpensive, it could be quite expensive. As long as I feel it would be useful to you.
Thursday Tip: Sure, you'll already get a full-blown tutorial on Tuesday. I'll focus this post on one of those little gems that can take your productivity to the next level.
Font Friday: Does anyone ever have enough fonts? I just don't think it is ever possible to have too many. Early in my career I worked at a font foundry and had access to the whole library. Yet I still wanted more. Most of the time I'll feature a free font, but there may occasionally be a good one with a cost attached.
Weekend Widget: Just like fonts, there is always another useful utility out there. When I get a new computer, I know there are several must-have utilities I install. Some of them are freebies while others have a well-deserved cost.
Sunday Stock: I know you are always looking for clip art, stock photos, templates and more. Sunday I'll find some cool art to tell you all about. Again, some will be freebies, some will have a cost attached.

I'll also try to keep an archive of each subject. So if you want to see a list of all the fonts I've promoted, we'll have that for you.

What do you think of the schedule? Is there a major area I've missed that you would like covered? Over time I know there will be some changes, but I think I've put together a good mixture of topics that will appeal to all users of graphics software.

Great Artwork for use in CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator and more

I'm always looking around for new sources of material for use in CorelDRAW and other graphics software. That recently led me to discover Go Media's Arsenal Professional Design Weaponry.

You'll find some of the coolest vector artwork you've ever seen. Many of the pieces were created by the Go Media design team for major rock bands, fashion companies and Fortune 500 companies. There are also packages of bitmap textures for backgrounds, fonts and motion graphics.

Of course there are also some cool freebies to download. There is no doubt you'll find something that you can use in your projects. You'll probably find many things you want!

ROMCat v6 Now Released with CorelDRAW X4 Support

A little over a month ago I wrote about the apparent demise of ROMCat. To paraphrase Mark Twain, "the rumors of ROMCat's death have been greatly exaggerated."

Actually, it is the users who are to thank for the reincarnation of ROMCat. As I stated in my earlier post, the author has gotten so few donations that he had no motivation to work on a new version. So a big thank you has to be extended to everyone who donated. Your donations gave him the motivation to update ROMCat.

If you haven't already donated, I ask that you select Help | Donate to ROMCat's Author and send the author a little financial love. If you've used ROMCat, you know just how wonderful it is and he is certainly deserving of a contribution.

So without any further ado, the new version is posted on the Graphics Unleashed Web site and ready for download. Enjoy!

Free CorelDRAW Clip Art and Templates Available for Download

People are always asking for alternative sources of clip art and/or templates for CorelDRAW. I've got some great news for you, this is a library of over 375 high-quality uniques images available for free download. In fact, the list is growing on a regular basis.

These images are supplied by the folks at Digital Art Solutions. If you aren't familiar with them, they have been providing production ready artwork and add-ons for CorelDRAW users for many years.

The process for getting the free artwork is pretty simple. Go to the clip art download page and completely fill out the form on the right hand side of the page. Yes, you have to fill it out completely to receive the free artwork. Within a day or two (probably the same day) you will get an access code and a URL where the files are located. At that point you can download any of the free clip art images or templates.

Sure, the folks at Digital Art Solutions are hoping that you'll like the artwork and that you'll buy some of their packages. In fact, they will give you a nice discount on your first order. You will be added to their e-mail newsletter list. I've received it for many years and typically you get no more than two e-mails a month. You can unsubscribe at any time if you don't wish to receive it.

CorelDRAW X4 Font List

One of the questions that always arises with new versions goes something like "so what fonts are included?"

As a writer, I often get my hands on the discs a little before the public and I do have a copy of the DVD for CorelDRAW X4 in my hot little hands. Overall there are 1191 font files though 96 fonts are duplicated. That leaves 1095 fonts if my math is correct. That number may still be off by a little bit as I haven't actually counted all of them.

The fonts of biggest interest to engravers will be the 10 single line fonts that make their debut in CorelDRAW X4. I'll let you look at the full font list and decide for yourself which fonts are new to you.

Did I mention that the installer will automatically copy (not install) the fonts to a folder you specify on the hard drive? It will also copy clip art, photos and other extra content on the DVD. All in all, there are some great things to like about the extras included with this release.
