Now that version 12 of Corel's powerful, popular drawing suite CorelDRAW has
taken hold, one might expect the company to phase out CorelDRAW 9. Instead,
Corel has recycled its engine into CorelDRAW Essentials, a powerful pair
of creation and editing programs available at an attractive, sub-$100 price.
The retail package is generous, with two image-editing programs, a fat and
friendly instruction manual, tons of clip art, convenient HTML-based
documentation, and a pair of Osborne/McGraw-Hill guides in PDF format.
The cornerstone of Essentials is CorelDRAW 9, a robust illustration tool. With
its rich interface, users can quickly create simple or complex object-based
drawings. The extensive tool set contains everything from simple freehand
pens and ellipse tools to a versatile Bézier tool, complex fill tools, a text editor, and more.
For bitmap editing, the package includes Corel PHOTO-PAINT, which on its own
would be a commendable program. Its relatively small number of tools (compared to
Photoshop Elements and Paint Shop Pro 7) is highly customizable. PHOTO-PAINT's paint
tool, for instance, is so adjustable that users can create virtually any kind
of brush, sprayer, or other applicator they desire.

A specialized training course covering the key elements of CorelDRAW. There
are 67 audiovisual lessons in total. Designed for both the single
user at home and the office environment, this new program
provides outstanding value for the investment. A multiple user license has been
made available that allows the program to be installed to a server and
run across a network for multiple simultaneous personnel training. This
is ideal for commercial training centers, schools and large businesses.
Tracking a trainee's progress has also been made very easy with our new
Admin panel. Dates, log-on and off times etc, are all recorded for every
trainee.
A three tier instructional process has been implemented, that guarantees
higher memory retention and practical hands-on use. To complete the program,
Click N' Learn has made a final Design Exam available to help
assess a trainee's progress and provide a workplace ready certificate.
If the user is seeking official Corel Certification, the completion of
this course will fully equip any user with the required knowledge to sit
for a Certified VUE Corel exam at the basic level, (There are only two
levels, Basic and Advanced).
The course was created in CorelDRAW 9, but the material is well fitted for users of
CorelDRAW 8, CorelDRAW 9, CorelDRAW 10, CorelDRAW 11 and CorelDRAW 12.
Best of all, the course includes CorelDRAW Essentials (see info at right)!

What is the Final Design Exam?
|
|
The images below comprise a complete design for a 4 page CD booklet
insert. This represents the design element of the Click N' Learn / CorelDRAW®
Workplace Ready training course. The student will reproduce
this booklet, utilizing all the skills they have been taught throughout
the course. The artwork can then be submitted to Click N' Learn for
final examination and certification. All the images are supplied,
but do require quite a lot of manipulation and addition of special effects. The
submitted artwork will be assessed on four primary criteria:
- Alignment - the accurate placement and alignment of objects.
- Text - The correct fonts, placement and effects.
- The overall appearance and reproduction from that of the original.
- Extra images and artwork added to enhance the overall impact of the design.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS EXAM WILL TAKE APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS TO COMPLETE.

How the CorelDRAW Basics Workplace-Ready Training works? It's as easy as 1,2,3. |
1. Choose a Lesson.
A) A one to five minute audiovisual lesson begins to play
on the chosen topic. It is best to do the lessons in order.
B) The images used by the instructor in the video are identical
to the images the student will soon be working with.
|
|
2. Do the Tasks.
C) When the lesson stops playing CorelDRAW will automatically open for the student to proceed.
D) A list of tasks and questions are now performed and answered. The
student can work from the printed task sheets, or the automatic
tasker that appears on the screen at the end of each lesson.
This automatic tasker can be turned off if printed task sheets
are being used.
(printed Tasks sheets are the preferred method)
E) The lesson can be played again while the student performs the tasks.
From time-to-time the student may not remember a certain concept
or instruction, so the lesson can be played and paused as the student
alternates between the audiovisual lesson and the tasks they are
carrying out.
|
3. Minimize CorelDRAW and select your next lesson.
