Quick ā€˜N’ Dirty Halftone Separations

Someone wondered how to get CMYK halftoned separations from CorelDRAW without a Postscript printer. Here's a movie, PDF, and Source File.

NOTE: when converting the 4 Postscript files to 1-bit BW in Photo-Paint, change these screen angles for the plates to:

C = 15 degrees
M = 75 degrees
Y = 0 degrees
K = 45 degrees

Otherwise... Moire will be more prominent than necessary on the final output.

Other stuff: in the video, during print preview, I mention to watch out for overprinting as a potential "problem". Sometimes it can be, but much more often it's a solution for registration problems!

Also.. try converting artwork at higher or lower Lines Per Inch than the 45 LPI I'd chosen for the 1-bit conversion. For ex, try 30 LPI. Then compare the two print outs. You'll see how the 30 LPI file has coarser dots.

MAKE SURE you print off examples after the conversions to see the final output, do not depend on what you see on screen.

Also... While it's possible to convert the Postscript file directly to a 1-bit BW bitmap upon opening, the results are poor... you have no control. Don't bother.

If you are crazy about halftones, then you should consider:

Im sorry if im off base but im looking everywhere for Vector halftone dots. I came across http://vectorstock.com/gallery/1078/ that has a few vector halftones that are clean. How the heck was that done?? I've tried using photoshop but I need to get them into vector format. Being a signmaker, I need to cut them on a vinyl plotter. We recently had a customer that wanted to wrap his scion xb with them and unfortunately I couldnt make it happen.

I need help..... Im cross-eyed and cant sleep over these dopey dots. :D

Thanks all.
