How to remove the white box around an image

I've covered this kind of thing before, but here's another movie showing a few interesting things about how CorelDRAW & Photo-PAINT X3 work in this regard. It's about 7 meg.

The example includes a higher resolution version of the dog you see below.

Forcing nodes to Line or Curve Nodes with Shortcut Keys

Today I assigned some shortcut keys to force any selected node(s) to either line or curve nodes (in Node Editing Mode).

The "1" & "2" keys are unassigned by default, so I'd chose those. You've guessed it... L & C are taken! :-)

Oddly enough, forcing to curve nodes has a built-in Shortcut key, but there isn't one for Line nodes. You can have multiple shortcut keys for the same command. Having the shortcut keys beside each other seemed logical.

My desaturated Icon set for CorelDRAW X3

When CorelDRAW 11 came out, the new icon colors seemed to incite a love/hate response from users. I prefer the look of Draw 9/10. From some reason, I'd thought they were more colorful in the older CorelDRAW versions, so I was shocked when I realized they were even less so!

Thanks to CorelDRAW Super Hero Osman Moscuff, I was able to globally change my CorelDRAW icons in Photo-Paint. Things got exciting when I'd mentioned to him it may be possible to adjust the icons as a whole. He'd vanished for a day, then came back with a VBA macro. We worked together on this project, but he has excellent skills in digging out CorelDRAW's resource libraries and then re-inserting the changes. Thank-you OS!

Some of you might be interested in changing icons the way I did. It gets a bit involved, since there are multiple icon libraries to deal with. The majority of you likely prefer to simply replace the set. If so, here's the 650k ZIP FILE. Note that you use my offering at your own risk - I've had no problems. I've included CorelDRAW X3's default icons in the ZIP as well.

Click the image to see an idea of what this icon set looks like.

Some icons still have the bluish tint, such as the Smart Fill Tool, and the Crop Tool. They seem to be in yet another icon library.

There were some icons I snagged form older versions of Draw such as the text Bold, Italic, and Underline icons. The justification icons are the old style too. Some icons are in full color, but not with the blue tint.

Have fun!

Ever find yourself typing away and find that you've been typing in ALL CAPS for the last sentence and a half?

A super Corelian named Ronny Axelsson offered a cool tip on disabling the Caps Lock button. He wrote that he disables the Caps Lock on ALL of his systems.

He emailed a little utility to me in a 140k ZIP file. Click here to get it.

I'll admit it was a little nervous about using it, but installed it and now have no regrets. While I occasionally need a few words in all caps for a flyer I'm designing, it's not a big deal to hold down the shift key for those occasions.

I've included a screen shot so you can see what it looks like. Click on it to enlarge it.
