A Hidden Gem in X4
A customer asked me about the Paper Type/Size drop down in CorelDRAW 11, wondering if he could delete some of the existing choices. I poked around the Draw program folders, and even the Registry. No luck.
I suspect many of you would rather populate the list with sizes you use on a regular basis.
There's some room for improvement: Deleting each paper type one at a time is laborous. There should be a way to shift-click or ctrl-click a range.
Maybe in X5? :-)

Aaron saw the post, and emailed me this advice:
Hey Jeff,
C:\Program Files\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4\Config holds a doc called PaperTypes.xml that you can edit.
Thank you,
Aaron S. Hunter

So I went to check it out. Looking at the XML code in Notepad was more daunting than expected. I backed up the file, then deleted almost all of the paper types from the list. I saved the XML file and launched X4. the paper types still showed up! It seems more needs to be considered...
update: on my system, the file was at: F:\Documents and Settings\Jeff Harrison\Application Data\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4\User Config.
I deleted like a madman, and it emptied out the list. I deleted too much: Draw crashed when I went to check out the list! So if you play with this stuff, ensure you make a backup of the papertypes file first.
Perhaps a friendly utility would be in order.... to bulk delete entries, safely.
