MusicMatch Jukebox has been something of a staple. It has been like a reliable old friend. Since I began surfing the Net, I have always come back to MusicMatch Jukebox over and over again. As other titles and software have come and gone, MusicMatch Jukebox, or MMJ as I like to call it, has remained consistent. What this translates into is an interface that has not been radically altered. Much has remained the same, which in this case is a good thing.
The latest rendition of MusicMatch Jukebox, version 8 witnesses some much needed refinements of the interface. Much of the screen clutter and redundancies of the old version are now history. The elegance of the new layout is much appreciated. Unlike some players that have attempted to do everything under the sun, MMJ 8 like its predecessors has kept the focus on the music and the artists. You will not see too much here to distract you from enjoying the music. However, if you really want to appreciate MMJ8, you may need to look to the fee version.
While there has always been, and still is, a free rendition of MusicMatch Jukebox 8, the real power comes in the more powerful paid deluxe model. The biggest advantage is the ability to burn CD's as fast as your CD writing drive can handle. Unfortunately, the free version does not allow you to burn very fast. Nor does the free version give you access to the advanced music features of their MusicMatch MX features.
While I have not been a huge fan of some of the paid music services, I have to admit that MusicMatch has done an admirable job of allowing you to listen to major musical acts without too much confusion. If you are interested in sampling what is out there, and you want songs, no commercials and a bit of background on the artist, MMJ 8 does provide an excellent service in this area. You can literally create your own playlist, commercial free, as you surf the Net. The ability to sample new music offers something akin to the previewing recordings before you buy. So if you are fearful of picking a CD that may or may not be to your liking, you can remove some doubt before purchasing blind.
Another huge advantage of MusicMatch Jukebox 8 is the tagging feature. You can embed information about a musician without fear of creating bad tags. For those that are into adding detail, this is an excellent feature to have on hand.
If sound quality is an issue, MusicMatch Jukebox 8's online service offers you CD-like quality for those with faster connections. Naturally, to get the most out of video and music online it is important to have a secure fast cable always on connection, or some flavor of DSL. No matter what you select, do consider having broadband, or its nearest equivalent, to enjoy full bodied sound. Before I forget, MMJ8 also includes a visualization editor that allows you to watch visual files saved in the "my pictures" folder on your hard drive. For parties, and just plain for "kicks," it may be a nice little add on to the program.
When it comes to burning, stability, features and the like, Music Match Jukebox 8 is another in a long list of programs that have been a standard for music listening. While there are many services in the marketplace, MMJ 8 offers one of the better ones. Another nice feature of MMJ 8 is that there is support for a wide variety of MP3 players and other similar mobile digital music devices.
Also of note, the product should be available in retail stores boxed in the not too near future. I have to admit I am really fond of the boxed version of the product. The previous MusicMatch Jukebox version 7 retail box included an instruction manual, and a free Recordable CD. But if you cannot wait, you can go right ahead and download it right away. You may find it essential.
Clutter free, streamlined, MusicMatch Jukebox 8 continues the tradition of past versions. Easy to use, fast and accessible, if you are looking for a place to find the latest musical acts, and recordings, this is the place to start. Relatively easy to use, and fast, this is one player essential to have if you are looking for music without ads or interruption. Plus, there is support for a wide spectrum of MP3 players and other digital devices.
