Picking the right software to watch DVDs on your PC has become harder and harder. Part of the reason for this is that the competition has heated up a great deal. But one thing is very clear, if you want to find an all purpose player that has been a consistent winner time and time again it is Cyberlink.
Having won a slew of awards, Cyberlink continues in offering rich full features. In the new deluxe version, they have introduced a new technology, CLEV, Cyberlink Eagle Vision, which in short makes DVD video look crisper, sharper and more detailed.
CLEV decodes video in such a way as to automatically enhance areas of the screen where needed. It is as if someone had lifted a dusty veil from the front of your PC monitor. This becomes particularly apparent when you view films on a flat screen monitor. When you view a video in split screen, the differences become painfully obvious between the parts improved by CLEV technology and those that are not optimized.
And, the advancements do not stop with picture quality. Cyberlink added state of the art sound to the works with CLME. This technology developed by Cyberlink delivers multi-channel playback on two channel encoded audio tracks.
The new sound areas are impressive. This is one of those feature sets that unless you have a very high end sound system set up to your PC, you may not need this rich array. For those with high end systems and high end sound, this is just what is needed. It is nice to know that you have such extensive support for fuller rich sound should you need to update.
DIVX, a popular file format known for its high compression is supported in Power DVD 5 Deluxe. Previously if you wanted to watch DIVX films, you had to invariable download a separate player. Now, your DVD player can double as your DIVX player which is great too.
On the appearance front, the main view screen and controls have been updated and also incorporate the ability to be altered via skins.
To highlight the new features, they include the following:
For your average user the Deluxe could be considered overkill, but for those that want to be on the cutting edge, Cyberlink does offer the goods in more than sufficient quality and quantity.
Cyberlink has come out with a true power house of a DVD Player. There is no question that their beefed up sound and added visual features make this a necessary upgrade for existing users. However, unless you are running a current machine, some of the features may not be accessible, or even possible. While you can run this player on system running Windows 98 SE, I would very much recommend Windows XP with a Pentium 4. For those with new systems, and want the very best sound and picture quality, Cyberlink has once again produced a solid product.
