Product Description
Sherwood's incredibly affordable RX-4105 offers integrated preamplification and amplification, inputs for numerous audio source components, and advanced radio tuning and station access. The receiver delivers 100 watts RMS per channel x 2 for strong, clear sound across the audible spectrum--even at low listening levels. The company has lowered the amplifier's distortion relative to the previous model (the RX-4105), to less than 0.08 percent, while also giving the receiver a new layout borrowed from its higher-end components. The RX-4105 uses totally discrete amplifiers for all channels (TDAS) to maintain its high power and low distortion. Use the receiver's A and B clip-type speaker outputs to power 2 different rooms, or to biwire a pair of speakers for more efficient amplification (with A outputs driving the woofers, for instance, and the B outputs driving the tweeters--make sure your speakers are compatible if this is a key feature for you). The receiver also offers a handy 25-key remote control and switching for 2 pair of loudspeakers. Audio inputs switch between and amplify up to 4 additional components, including 2 requiring both inputs and outputs (such as a cassette deck and a VCR). The built-in AM/FM tuner features 30 station presets and auto station setup. Other features include bass and treble tone controls, a dimmable fluorescent display, and a .25-inch headphone jack for private listening. What's in the Box Sherwood RX-4105 receiver, remote control, AC power supply cord, FM indoor antenna, AM loop antenna set, and owner's manual.

Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description The Yamaha HTR-5850 XM-ready digital hometheater receiver is a full-featured digital home theater receiver that sports some serious features. Component video-up conversion takes composite signals and converts them into a component signal. This not only ensures the highest quality video from any source, it means you only need one connection to your HDTV monitor. No more switching inputs according to your source--it can all go through the component video connection.
| Some other major features on the Yamaha HTR-5850 include 6.1-channel discrete amplification (105 w x 6 RMS) and Yamaha's Digital ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) amplifier design concept that ensures the highest signal purity, and 14 surround programs. Also featured is Silent Cinema, Yamaha's exclusive technology that allows private listening enjoyment of multichannel music or movie sound, including Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround, through ordinary headphones. The system's digital-to-analog converters use an extremely high performance 192 kHz/24-bit operation type and perform accurate sound field reproduction for high-quality multichannel sources. And for two-channel stereo, they provide outstanding separation and precise musical delineation. In addition, the HTR-5850-SL has high-quality two-channel and multichannel surround reproduction and reproduces surround for 5.1 channels and 2.1 (virtual surround). The HTR-5850 is also XM Satellite Radio ready, which means that with the addition of an XM Connect-and-Play and XM subscription, you can tune into your favorite XM broadcasts.
Click to view the Yamaha HTR5850's connections. | The HTR-5850 also features Yamaha's exclusive Quad-Field Cinema Digital Sound Field Processing, or DSP--Yamaha's way of recreating the ambiance of a stadium, a concert hall, or an intimate club in the comfort of your own home. With 14 different sound programs that provide multiple variations, every movie and every piece of music will sound right in your home theater. Discrete power transistors, rather than chips, are used in the amplifier section to provide the cleanest sound possible. The amp delivers 105 watts each to seven channels, and the HTR-5850 can accommodate DVD, CD, MC/CDR, and digital TV/cable. Three optical digital outputs assure the finest possible signal leaving the receiver for your other components. A set of front panel A/V inputs allows for simple temporary connection. The receiver also features an AM/FM digital tuner with 40 station presets. What's in the Box HTR-5850 receiver, remote control, batteries, AM antenna, and FM antenna.

Product Description
Both powerful and versatile, the AudioSource Amp 300 high-current stereo power amplifier offers 150 watts RMS per channel x 2 or, in bridged mono mode, up to an amazing 470 watts x 1 (into 8-ohm speakers in both cases). Now you can scale your listening to match your budget: use either 1 amplifier or 2 for stereo sound or 5 or more in concert for full-blown home-theater excitement--perfect for your DVDs, multichannel DTV broadcasts, or high-resolution audio formats like DVD-Audio and SACD. Keep in mind that this is an amplifier only, with no volume control or onboard surround processing (though it does offer independent adjustable output controls for each channel). It's designed for use with a stereo preamplifier or a surround receiver offering preamplifier outputs. Making the move from 5.1- to 6.1- or 7.1-channel surround sound? If your receiver has preamp outputs for all channels, there's no need to replace your 5.1 surround receiver. Just feed the additional center or surround signals to a strategically positioned Amp 300. Connections consist of a choice of RCA (line-level) or clip-type (speaker-level) inputs and banana-plug-friendly binding-post speaker terminals for outputs. There's also set of stereo (left/right) RCA passthrough jacks for use in a daisy-chain setup. The amp works with 12-volt power-on/-off circuitry and also features a signal-sensing circuit for automatic power-on/-off, making it as ideal for custom installers as for end users. Its A and B speaker outputs let you power speakers in your main room, a second room, or both rooms simultaneously. The amplifier's toroidal power supply keeps distortion extremely low (less than 0.04 percent).

Product Description
For great hi-fi sound and on a budget, look no further than Denon's DRA-295 AM/FM receiver. The component is engineered to serve as the heart of a 2-channel music system while providing convenient composite-video switching for stereo video sources such as DVD players, digital video recorders, digital satellite systems, cable boxes, and VCRs. The receiver pumps 50 watts per channel x 2 into 8 ohm speakers (from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with .08 percent total harmonic distortion) and offers 2 sets of binding-post speaker terminals for powering 2 sets of speakers simultaneously. Add great hi-fi sound on a budget with the DRA-295. Take a closer look at the controls. | Included remote. View larger. | The DRA-295 divides the circuits handling low- and high-level audio signals into separate blocks to minimize the signals' influences on each other. This chassis design, new to the DRA-295, is called Signal Level Divided Construction (SLDC). The resultant output signals are cleaner than before, possessing greater fidelity and clarity. The receiver offers 5 stereo analog audio inputs, and the back panel sports 2 tape outputs. There's also a set of stereo (left/right RCA) preamplifier outputs, which may be used with a stand-alone audio amplifier for higher-power sound or for music enjoyment in another room. Use the receiver's remote input and output jacks to hook up external remote-control equipment, including IR re-transmitters and IR remote receivers (such as Denon's separately available RC-616, 617S, 617W, or 618 IR devices) so you can operate the DRA-295 with its supplied remote control, even if the receiver is in another room. The PLL FM/AM tuner offers 40 station presets for one-button tuning to your favorite radio stations; auto preset memory scans for stations so you don't have to manually program all 40. Other useful features include bass and treble tone controls, tone defeat, muting from the remote, a motor-driven rotary volume control, last-function memory, and switched AC outlets for powering other components. What's in the Box Receiver, two remote controls, remote batteries (two AA, two AAA), FM indoor antenna, AM loop antenna, a user's manual, a warranty card, and a service-station list.

The receiver provides 100 watts per channel and has an AM/FM tuner with a 30 FM/15 AM station memory. Dolby Digital, with five full-range channels and a subwoofer channel, lets you enjoy the most spectacular theater sound at home when you are watching movies and broadcasts. DTS Digital Surround is a digital movie soundtrack format that delivers 5.1- channel audio like Dolby Digital. Using a low audio-data compression rate, it delivers natural and clear sound. Dolby Pro Logic produces the same multidirectional sound you experience in a movie theater. Featuring a five-mode digital acoustic processor, the JVC RX-6500VBK also delivers sound that reflects the dynamics of live performances. It takes just two front speakers to enjoy three-dimensional surround sound with 3D-Phonic Virtual Dolby. Dialogue is fixed on the TV screen as a virtual-sound source, while the surround components are synthesized by the digital signal processor, then mixed with the front signals and played back by the two front speakers. Electronic bass and treble controls allow you to customize the sound to your liking. The JVC RX-6500VBK features optical digital output, which enhances the sound of DVDs, and has enough audio- video inputs and outputs to hook up a video game system, a second VCR, or a camcorder. S-video hookups are included for video game addicts. Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description Not everyone wants or needs a 5.1-channel receiver, which is where this HK3480 two-channel receiver from Harman Kardon comes into play. This ultra-high-bandwidth, 240-watt unit is perfect for fans of jazz, classical, or rock, as its powerful features bring out both the bombast and the nuance of your favorite music. The HK3480 is also one of the few stereo receivers to employ VMAx technology, a proprietary signal-processing technique that simulates a 360-degree sound field through a mere two speakers. The technology gives the listener the sensation of sitting in a concert hall or theater without requiring a surround sound setup.
Take a closer look at the HK3480's connections. You can also view the unit's front panel and remote control in detail. | Though the HK3480 is designed primarily for music, it also pumps out high-quality audio for your TV, DVD player, VCR, and video game console. It includes enough inputs for each of these components, along with composite video switching that allows you to conveniently switch between them. And unlike many current receivers, the unit offers a high-quality phono input (with preamp) for people who treasure the unique sound of LPs and don't want to give up their lifelong record collections. The HK3480 also comes with an AM/FM tuner with 30 station presets, a three-step fluorescent display, and a multicomponent remote control. As with most modern receivers, it's ready to serve as the audio centerpiece of all your listening needs, with seven audio inputs and four video inputs (including one on the front panel). The inputs are gold-plated for quality. The unit also comes with pre-out/main-in jacks for use with external amplifiers or speaker processors and a separate subwoofer output. Hookup is simple due to the color-keyed connections. The receiver's tuner section offers exceptional performance, from its high signal-to-noise ratio (73 dB in mono, 72 dB in stereo) to high (40 dB) channel separation for superior stereo imaging--not to mention strong tuning abilities with the help of better-than-80-dB image rejection and better-than-100-dB IF (intermediate frequency) rejection. This component is equipped with a nonvolatile EEPROM (Electrically Erasable and Programmable Read-Only Memory) that preserves tuner presets and system configuration information, even when the unit is not connected to a main power source. What's in the Box Stereo receiver, remote control, two AAA batteries, user's manual, and warranty/registration information.
Product Description
When two channels are all you need, make it two ultrahigh-bandwidth, high-current channels from the company that invented the stereo receiver. The HK 3480 features seven audio inputs, four video inputs (including one on the front panel), 30 AM/FM station presets, VMAx surround synthesis from stereo sources, three-step dimmable fluorescent display, a phono preamp, pre-out/main-in jacks, gold-plated inputs and a separate subwoofer output. Just feed the additional center or surround signals to a strategically positioned Amp 200.

Panasonic SA-HE100K Consumer Home Theater Receiver
Product Description
The SA-HE100 has been designed for ultimate audio performance, delivering cutting-edge surround sound from CDs, DVDs, and high-resolution formats like SACD and DVD-Audio with high power and great features. The receiver is equipped with six discrete RCA analog inputs to deliver the enhanced sound quality of multi-channel SACD (Super Audio CD) and DVD-Audio music. It also decodes DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1-channel sources and Dolby Pro Logic II, which converts sound from regular two-channel stereo sources into 5.1 channel for spacious surround effect. And, you'll also enjoy DTS-ES and Dolby Digital EX extended surround formats, which add a rear center channel for a full 6.1-channels of surround--great for large rooms and home theaters with above-average resolution. The SA-HE100 incorporates Panasonic's "Times Six" power amplifiers, which use Class H+ circuitry for a smooth, consistent sound from all six main channels. It delivers a full 100 watts per channel output (at 1 kHz into 6 ohms with 0.9 percent THD) so you'll feel the powerful bass of favorite music or the stomp of the Tyrannosaurus Rex breathing down your neck. You'll get slightly higher power--or lower distortion across the audio spectrum, depending on how you look at it--with stereo playback: 100 wpc from 40 to 20,000 Hz into 6 ohms with 0.9 percent THD). The receiver uses Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOS-FET) circuitry to enhance performance. By improving power bandwidth and contributing to highly linear sound quality, MOS-FET allows the receiver to reproduce a broader spectrum of frequencies than do standard amplifiers. Among other advantages, MOS-FET is what makes this model completely SACD and DVD-Audio compatible, with the ability to reproduce the rich, lifelike sound the formats are quickly becoming known for. The SA-HE100 includes three optical and one coaxial digital-audio inputs, three S-video inputs, and one S-video output, as well as two high-resolution component-video inputs.

Product Description
Amazon.com Product Description Let the music play throughout your house with Denon's DRA-395 multiroom-capable AM/FM stereo receiver. The receiver is engineered to serve as the heart of a 2-channel music system while providing high-fidelity sound and composite-video switching for stereo video sources such as DVD players, digital video recorders, digital satellite systems, cable boxes, and VCRs. Delivering 80 watts per channel x 2 into 8 ohm speakers (from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with no more than .08 percent total harmonic distortion), the DRA-395 can drive virtually any modern loudspeakers with authority and clarity. The multi-room DRA-385 receiver brings all your entertainment components together for high-fidelity sound and video. View larger. | Back panel includes plenty of inputs and outputs for all your home-theater component needs. View larger. | Included remote control. View larger. | The receiver divides the circuits handling low- and high-level audio signals into separate blocks to minimize the signals' influences on each other. This chassis design, new to the DRA-395, is called Signal Level Divided Construction (SLDC). The resultant output signals are cleaner than before, possessing greater fidelity and clarity. The DRA-395's multi-source function lets you enjoy 2 different programs in up to 3 different rooms simultaneously by feeding the receiver's dedicated zone 2 and zone 3 preamp outputs to powered speakers or to other stand-alone amplifiers and standard speakers. With such a setup you could watch and listen to the DVD player in the main room while other family members listen to the CD player in other parts of the house. Separate A and B speaker outputs (with binding-post terminals for both sets) provide additional speaker setup flexibility. The supplied RC-894 remote control commands not only the receiver but can also operate the main functions of a Denon CD player and a cassette deck. You can connect external remote control equipment, such as Denon's RC-616 and RC-617, which would permit use of the RC-894 remote from a sub room (zone 2 or 3) so you could switch a sub room output on and off, select a sub-room source, adjust volume, and recall preset radio stations. The receiver offers 6 stereo analog audio inputs, including a phono input for use with your turntable. (The phono input is compatible only with moving-magnet-type phono cartridges.) The back panel sports 2 tape outputs. Other useful features include bas and treble tone controls, tone defeat, muting from the remote, a motor-driven rotary volume control, last-function memory, and switched AC outlets for powering other components. What's in the Box Receiver, two remote controls, remote batteries (two AA, two AAA), FM indoor antenna, AM loop antenna, a user's manual, a warranty card, and a service-station list.

Product Description
The HTR-5540 AV receiver puts high-end home theater well within the grasp of affordability, offering the convenience of DVD-Audio-ready six-channel analog inputs alongside the latest 6.1-channel surround processing and premium Yamaha sound technologies. When hooked up with the digital-audio output from a DVD-Video player or digital satellite receiver, the 75 watts-per-channel HTR-5540 handles 5.1-channel surround decoding for both major formats, Dolby Digital and DTS. In addition, the HTR-5540 processes Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES, which create an even more expansive soundfield through the use of a center-rear surround channel, totaling six discrete full-range channels in addition to the LFE (low-frequency effects) channel: left, center, right, and left, center, and right surround. Non-Dolby Digital and DTS sources can benefit from surround processing, too. With enhanced directional steering over standard four-channel Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Pro Logic II provides five channels of surround processing from any stereo source--whether that's a TV broadcast, VHS tapes, or your favorite CDs, cassettes, and LPs. Pro Logic II delivers full-bandwidth stereo surround channels with 40 dB of left-right separation. A key benefit from a Yamaha receiver, of course, is Yamaha's proprietary signal processing, including Cinema DSP (digital soundfield processing), which creates aural "imaging" that not only makes your home sound like a theater, but also sounds better than most movie theaters. Based on a wealth of measured data in studios and halls, Cinema DSP is designed to bring out the full potential of movie sound mixes, reproducing them the way directors and sound engineers intended. And, when you're listening to multichannel presentations late at night, you'll appreciate Silent Cinema, which simulates 5.1-channel listening through a pair of ordinary 2-channel headphones (not included). Silent Cinema uses unique parameters for each soundfield to ensure accurate headphone representations of each soundfield. Then there are the six-channel DVD-Audio-ready inputs mentioned above. "If DVD-Audio is so high-tech," you might wonder, "why do I need analog inputs to appreciate it?" You need them because, for reasons of data density, DVD-Audio players perform their own digital-to-analog conversion, passing high-resolution analog signals on to your amplifier. (And analog is, after all, what your amp feeds your speakers.) DVD-Audio can deliver up to six channels of discrete, full-frequency sound at greater-than-CD resolution (24 bits, 96 kHz sampling rate versus 16 bits, 44.1 kHz for CD), and some discs will exploit the chance to offer an ultra-high-resolution, stereo-only 192 kHz sampling rate. In stereo or surround, the sound from DVD-Audio is packed with detail, yet it's smoother and sweeter than the sound from even the best standard CD players. The HTR-5540 accommodates decoded DVD-A signals and routes them to the appropriate speakers in your surround system. The versatile unit offers five video input connections (with four S-video inputs), five fixed and assignable digital-audio inputs (great for DSS, CD, laserdisc, gaming consoles, and minidisc), and front-panel input connections for your camcorder or other spontaneous hookup. The HTR-5540 comes with a preset remote control. Finally, the HTR-5540 benefits from Yamaha's Digital ToP-ART (Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology) build philosophy. ToP-ART's goal is to maximize digital quality while minimizing analog circuitry. The culmination of the best digital engineering and design possible, it brings together several key elements to create the best-sounding, easiest-to-use A/V components available.
