Product Description
Munster le prefere d'Alsace Semi - cow's milk soft cheese - 7.7 oz/230 gr, France. The chief characteristics of this french cheese are firstly the pungent smell, and secondly the soft, smooth paste, with the consistency of melting chocolate. The rind is brick-red, and the paste is fine textured and golden, slightly sticky, and sweet, with the flavor of rich milk, as long as the cheese has been properly matured. Locally, the Munster cheese is eaten with cumin or potatoes boiled with their skins on. Cumin-flavored munster may be bought ready-made. Appropriate wines: Gewurtzstraminer, Tokay, Pinot Gris. Percentage of Fat: 50%

Product Description
This is not the Munster with which most Americans are familiar. Alsatian Munster is another animal altogether. Munster is virtually the only regional cheese native to Alsace. It has a very pronounced, powerful aroma that is oddly reminiscent of fried eggs. Munster is smelly due to its washed rind. Cheeses such as Munster, Livarot, Pont L'Eveque, Taleggio, and Limburger are referred to as washed-rind cheeses. They are rubbed by hand with a cloth moistened by a brine solution of rock salt and water. This solution encourages the growth of the bacteria that give these cheeses their characteristically strong flavors and smells, while inhibiting the growth of mold. These cheeses have "red" rinds, which are actually closer to orange in color. Many cheese connoisseurs relish these cheeses, but they are certainly not for the timid. Their depth of flavor and character are difficult to match, and once you develop a taste for them they will surely rank among your favorites. - Made from cow's milk.

Product Description
Munster Géromé is produced in an area that not only makes very pungent cheeses, but also excellent spicy wines. Its production center is the pretty village of Munster, set amid pastures and vineyards. A young Munster cheese has a thin but firm pinkish-red rind with white paste. As it matures the rind turns to a darker russet color with a deep straw-colored interior. The paste is soft and supple with small holes in it. It becomes almost creamy in texture as it matures. The maturation time is usually 2 to 3 months. The rind has a strong farmyard aroma with a lemony tang to it and this flavor transfers itself to the paste which is also strong in flavor and has a robustly meaty taste to it. Munster cheese is an excellent example of a sticky cheese with a delicious taste; the not so experienced cheese taster may need to build up some courage to try a cheese with an overwhelming aroma.
