Product Description
When the word cheese is mentioned, most of us immediately think of France. We can't help it; it's a knee-jerk reaction. As excellent as are the hundreds of cheeses that originate from all corners of the globe, France is always the first country the comes to mind when discussing cheese making. Our French Cheese Assortment captures a good bit of French cheese culture with the four cheeses listed below. - Chevre by Couturier: This classic French goat cheese is quite fresh and spreadable. Formed in the shape of a log, enjoy this cheese on salads, as a snack, or with fruit for dessert. (4 oz.)
- Camembert: This famous soft-ripened cheese from Normandie has a creamy interior beneath a fluffy (and edible) white rind. Similar to Brie, but with a slightly fuller flavor. (8.8 oz.)
- Abbaye de Belloc: We're happy to bring you this raw sheep's milk cheese from the Pays Basque region of Aquitaine (French Pyrenees). Its milk comes from red-nosed Manech ewes raised on farms adjacent to the Abbaye de Notre Dame de Belloc. (8 oz.)
- Gruyère de Comté: Created by local villagers in alpine dairies called "Fruiteries", its milk comes only from Montbeliarde and Tachete de L'est cows. Each 70+ pound wheel of raw-milk Comté is aged for at least six months, resulting in a sweet and nutty masterpiece. (8 oz.)
- Please note that any item temporarily out of stock will be substituted with a similar item of equal value.

Great Goat Cheeses of the World (2 pound) by igourmet.com
By: igourmet
Our price:
- A collection of goat cheeses from around the world
- Ibores, Buche de Chevre, Cornelia, Goat Cheddar by Cypress Grove
- Each cheese is an 8 ounce package
- Makes a great gift
- Please note that any item temporarily out of stock will be substituted with a similar item of equal value
|
Product Description
People are drawn to the vibrant, tangy flavors found only in goat cheese. Great goat cheeses capture the essence of their native pastures and often exhibit fresh flavors such as of thyme, tarragon, rosemary, lemongrass and pine. Their ease of digestion, particularly for the lactose intolerant among us, is another reason for the popularity of goat cheese. For many however, goat cheese remains misunderstood. A persistent victim of "milk-prejudice," it is our goal to bring goat cheese to the masses. Our Great Goat Cheese Assortment includes a selection of cheeses from four distinct countries: - Ibores (Spain): This raw goat's milk cheese reflects its homeland with its full, simple flavor. It is hard and dense and becomes sharper with age. During its two-month aging period, the rustic cheese is rubbed with a mixture of olive oil and sweet paprika. (8 oz.)
- Buche de Chevre (France): This wonderful goat's milk cheese from Poitou in the Loire Valley is aged for two months, during which time it develops a hard, edible crust complete with a bloomy white mold coating. It is sharp and tangy near the rind and gets progressively richer and creamier toward the center. (8 oz.)
- Dorothea (Holland): A goat's milk gouda that is made with potato skins and basil oil. The potatoes lend the cheese a uniquely earthy flavor that complements the tang of the goat's milk beautifully. (8 oz.)
- Goat Cheddar (USA): Sharp and smooth, this pasteurized cheddar is aged a minimum of one year, giving it a complex, nutty flavor, with a subtle undertone of classic goat's milk flavor. (8 oz.)
Please note that any item temporarily out of stock will be substituted with a similar item of equal or greater value. This item is not packaged as a gift. If you would like the gift packaged version of this item please click here.

Platinum Collection of Cheeses (1.85 pound) by igourmet.com
By: igourmet

- An assortment of four world-class cheeses
- Boschetto al Tartufo Bianchetto: a Tuscan sheep's milk cheese with rare white truffle shavings
- Cave Aged Gruyere: a Swiss mountain cheese expertly aged in underground caves
- Goat Camembert: from France, it is melt-in-your-mouth creamy

Product Description
Our Platinum Collection is a selection of four of the world's most exquisite cheeses. Sure to impress even the most knowledgeable cheese connoisseur, it makes a great gift for those who appreciate the finer things in life. Included are: - Boschetto al Tartufo Bianchetto: A sweet, tender and mild cheese from Tuscany made from a careful balance of 90% sheep's milk and 10% cow's milk. Shavings of rare Italian white truffle are blended into the cheese, which is followed by a brief aging period to allow the truffle aroma and flavor to penetrate all through the creamy cheese. This transforms Boschetto into a powerfully addictive delicacy.
- Goat Camembert: This extra creamy goat's milk cheese from France is satiny-smooth with a firm, slightly chewy, edible white crust. Its flavor is all goat - tangy and rustic with hints of lemon and hay.
- Le Marechal: A raw cow's milk Swiss cheese produced in small batches in the town of Corcelles-aux-Payernes. The cheese is rubbed with Herbes de Provence (a blend of thyme, oregano and other country herbs) giving it a beautiful appearance and a wickedly spicy flavor. (8 oz)
- Smokey Blue: Gold Medal winning raw-milk blue cheese from the Rogue Valley Creamery in Oregon. Robust and sweet with a rich buttery finish, gently smoked over hazelnut shells.

Product Description
Taleggio D.O.P. is a soft Italian gourmet cheese that is considered a delicacy when served in dishes or when served on its own as a delightful Italian taste treat. It is a gourmet cheese of very old origins, perhaps even before the 10th century. Its regional origin was the Val Taleggio, in the province in Bergamo, from which derives the name of the cheese. Currently the area of production and ripening of the Taleggio cheese is Lombardy, Piedmont and Venetia regions. The rind of the cheese is thin, and of soft consistency; its color is natural rose-orange, with the presence of a characteristic grey and green light sage color mould. The paste is uniformly compact, softer under the rind and the color changes from white to pale yellow, with some small circles. The taste is sweet, with light acidic vein, slightly aromatic, sometimes with a truffle aftertaste; the odor is characteristic. Taleggio gourmet cheese should be served to room temperature, to fully display its taste and its aroma. It is not necessary to remove the rind, but it is sufficient to gently scrape it. We cut and wrap this cheese in pieces of 8 ounces and 1 pound.

Chevrelait (7 ounce) by igourmet.com
By: igourmet
Our price:
- imported from Holland
- goat's milk
- smoked
- similar in texture to Smoked Gouda
|
Product Description
The name is a bit corny, but at least it's accurate. Chevrelait, pronounced like the American car company, is the combination of the French words "Chevre" - meaning "goat", and "Lait" - meaning "milk". We discovered this brand new smoked goat's milk cheese while in Holland not too long ago. Similar in looks to Dutch Smoked Gouda, it is a log-shaped cheese with an edible brown rind and a pale white interior. That is where the similarity ends, however, as Chevrelait tastes decidedly "goaty". If you like the taste of traditional chevre, you'll find Chevrelait to be a familiar, yet unique alternative. - Made from pasteurized processed goat's milk.
- Photo depicts whole 4 lb. form of cheese.
- We cut and wrap this item by the 1/2 pound.
- Please contact us if you would like to purchase the whole form.
