This special, full bodied oolong (wu-long) has a flowery and cinnamon aftertaste. It is a good digestive and metabolic stimulant for improved function. Our organic teabag line offers the sophisticated tea drinker a quick alternative. It is not easy to reproduce a loose leaf tea, but if one learns to brew these bags with a little attention, the outcome is a surprisingly good brewa. Some important reminders are the water temperature for teabags should be between 150-180 deg f. Water that comes straight out of a boiling water kettle will especially scorch green or white teabags. Water that comes out of an office water cooler is usually about 160-165 degrees, and that is perfect for our teabags. Please monitor your steeping time. The leaves can infuse in as little as 30 seconds, so vary the steeping time until you discover you own preferred concentration. Do not leave the teabag in the water to 'make it stronger', you will only make it more bitter. Steep for 1.5-2 minutes for a tasty cup that is lighter than an average black tea. Also try using 4-6 oz of water instead of 10-14 oz which is the size of an average mug. By brewing in less water the tea brew will be stronger and tastier. Teabags can be reused once if brewed immediately and with water of a lower temperature. Do not use a teabag again if it has been out for hours or overnight.

The brew is deep and dark in color. Each cake is about 100 grams. Stick it in your pocket and you are ready for a tea brew anytime! Each cake yields 20-25 servings, and the leaves can be infused up to 5 times. Use 3-4 grams of tea leaves per serving. Steep for 1.5 minutes the first time and for 30 seconds each time after. Product Description
White tea is very different from other types of tea, namely green and black. White tea leaves are plucked from a special varietal tea bush called the Narcissus or chaicha. The leaves are not steamed or pan-fired (the process used in green teas) or fermented and fired (the process used in black tea). Instead, the leaves are naturally withered and dried in the sun. Only two distinct leaves and the bud are selected from the bush. These leaves must show a very light green almost gray white color and ideally be covered with velvet peach fuzz. The leaves for Shou Mei, also called Sowmee, are plucked during April, May and June in the Fujian Province of China. The lack of processing and hand selection is evident in the leaf appearance of this tea. As far as its flavor, Shou Mei has a pronounced taste profile - along the lines of oolong tea. Many white tea drinkers prefer Shou Mei, favoring its 'substance' compared to the delicate nuances of other white teas.
