Strait-Line 64030 Laser Tape
Product Description
Granted, if you're into home repair, you've got a 25-foot steel tape in your toolbox. But how many times have you grumbled at it when it didn't stay rigid from across the room? Tapes have their purpose, but for estimated measurements of up to 50 feet, the Laser Tape is the way to go. Just point, press "read", and the distance is displayed in feet and inches or metric. It's simple to use and would be perfect for the homeowner trying to calculate how many gallons of paint to buy, how much vinyl flooring to get or even how much fertilizer to buy, provided you've got walls round your yard to bounce the laser off. It is, we must say, a little finicky, and it works best on monochromatic sold surfaces, but once you get the hang of it, it's a handy little tool.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Product Description
In the past, the trouble with long-distance measuring was that it could be cumbersome, time-consuming, and potentially inaccurate. But with the FatMax Tru Laser measuring system, laser technology solves the problems of yesteryear with point-and-shoot ease. Perfect for people who need to measure farther than they can reach, the FatMax Tru Laser turns complicated surveying into a one-man job. Just point the laser, press the button, and voila -- instant, accurate measurements for do-it-yourselfers or contract professionals. Take measurements indoors, outdoors, and in hard-to-reach areas without complicated set-ups, ladders, or climbing. Forget about measuring poles and wobbly steel tapes. With the FatMax Tru Laser you can calculate length, width, and height from any reference point in the room, and you can even determine the available area or volume. Great for appraisers, carpenters, plumbers, technicians, floor and tile layers, and painters, the FatMax is as versatile as it is easy to use. Calculate dimensions for tiling projects. | Estimate for window fittings. | Tackle complex painting projects. | Lay carpet with ease. | Great for Tiling Estimations Just imagine the number of measurements and dimensions involved in even the simplest tiling project. Reduce the waste and frustration from re-tiling and re-cutting by getting it right the first time with this lightweight, portable measuring device. Simplify Window Fitting Window fitting normally relies on measuring tapes, but what if you've got dozens of windows spaced over a large front -- for example, an apartment block? Measuring the old-fashioned way would be tiresome and time-consuming, not to mention dangerous. But with the FatMax Tru Laser, complex calculations and production planning is streamlined and safe. Painting is a Piece of Cake Indoor measurements are inconvenient and imprecise, primarily because of the inefficient manner in which they're carried out. Walking back and forth with floppy, difficult-to-manage tapes or enlisting the help of friends can double your work time and give you a backache, but the FatMax Tru Laser measures like a pro. Just step inside, point and click, and the room's exact area, volume, size, and length are right at your fingertips. Carpet Laying Can Be Uncomplicated Let the FatMax Tru Laser eliminate transcription errors by doing the math for you. That way, you only need to do the job once -- and you can abandon cumbersome, repetitive tasks like stooping to plant and arrange measuring tapes. Enjoy Immediate, Pinpoint Accuracy This innovative point-and-shoot laser tool measures distances up to 100 feet with an accuracy that's +/- just a 1/4-inch. Try getting that kind of precision from an old steel tape! And don't be fooled by cheaper sonic measuring tools that claim similar technology. They may cost less, but they're notoriously inaccurate -- with precision that varies up to 4 inches at only 50 feet. So if you need numbers that are right on the money, don't skimp with inferior tools. Stick with the Tru Laser if you want it done right the first time, every time. Applications Use the FatMax Tru Laser to quickly and accurately measure room sizes, ceiling heights, and long runs of fencing and railings; and it also performs addition and subtraction, calculates area, and determines volume. This advanced tool is a fantastic choice for almost any professional contractor, designer, technician, or appraiser. The FatMax Tru Laser offers exceptional accuracy. | Key Technical Specs
- Accuracy: +/- 1/4 inch (6mm) at 100 feet
- Range: 2 - 100 feet

Product Description
It wasn't that long ago when I heard about the very first laser level, and now the market is flooded with dozens of different models. However, despite the widespread proliferation of these tools, few can compete with the features, versatility and price of the new Black & Decker BullsEye BDL500S. This sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, electronic device is actually two tools in one: First, it's a bright-light laser level that projects both horizontal and vertical lines. It's equipped with an auto-leveling feature that permits quick setup without sacrificing accuracy. The lasers are accurate within 1/8 inch over 20 feet. Second, the BDL500S is a digital measurer that lets you quickly and accurately measure distances up to 999 feet! Simply roll the tool across a wall, floor, ceiling or other flat surface, and the measurement is automatically displayed on the LCD screen. It's also equipped with a really cool feature alled AccuSpace, which allows you to electronically measure a wall, and punch in the number of pictures you want to hang. The tool then automatically divides the distance and tells how far apart to hang the pictures for equal spacing in between. The BDL500S is nearly 11 inches tall and weighs about two pounds. Use it to hang framed photos, paintings and other wall-mounted objects, and to precisely align floorboards, ceramic tile and suspended-ceiling grids. The tool comes with a protective storage case and two AA-size batteries. -- Joseph Truini
Product Description

Key features include three laser lines that project level (plumb) and horizontal laser lines, AccuSpace technology to evenly space items along a wall, and an easy-to-read LCD display. With square reference edges to project perpendicular laser lines, this leveler includes a protective storage case and two AA batteries. Categorized as a class II laser, this laser level comes backed by a 2-year limited warranty.

Product Description
SONIN Electronic Distance Measuring Tools send out narrow beams of sound waves that ""bounce"" off solid objects back to the hand-held receiver. Custom electronics and a microprocessor then convert elapsed time into a distance measurement and display it on the LCD. The Laser Targeting Range Finder adds a visible laser to assist the user in locating their target area. Every SONIN Electronic Distance Measuring Tool has a built-in calculator to add linear measurements and compute areas and volumes. Intelligent software improved accuracy and easy-to-understand instructions complete the attractive package.
Product Description
Just stand where you are, point, and press a button. That's all it takes to accurately measure distances up to 60 feet with the Sonin Range Finder. It uses ultrasonic technology, and the manufacturer says it's accurate to within 99.5 percent, plus or minus a 1/4 inch. The unit sends out narrow beams of sound waves that bounce off solid objects back to the handheld receiver. A microprocessor converts elapsed time into a distance measurement and displays it on the LCD. It also will add, subtract, figure area and volume, and store seven measurements for you with recall. We gave the Sonin a good workout, checking all kinds of dimensions and getting tape-measure-accurate results every time. Truth be told, we kept measuring things even after we knew we'd tested enough--just because it was fun. The Sonin unit runs on a 9-volt battery (it would be a nice touch if one were included) and supremely user-friendly instructions. The nine-button keypad is not intimidating, even for the mathematically challenged. There's a one-year warranty, something we always like to see, as well as a handy pouch. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Product Description
In the first 10 minutes out of the package, we gave this little fellow a workout, measuring everything within our sight. And when we double-checked with a good old-fashioned measuring tape, Stanley was right on the mark. Even up to its cap of 50 feet, it was accurate. For distances greater than that, an auto-add feature keeps a running total for you. You can change measuring units from English to metric with the press of a button, and it's all run by a little 9-volt battery. You don't even need the instructions because it's very intuitive. And let's face it, don't we all love anything that comes with a laser pointer? This one doesn't affect the actual measurement, but it shows you exactly where you're aiming the thing. This is a sweet little unit for a nice price, and it beats walking across a room hoping your tape measure won't let go. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste The Stanley IntelliMeasure Ultrasonic Estimator quickly calculates square footage and room volumes, providing you with estimates accurate to plus or minus 5-percent within a 50-foot range. In just 2 to 6 seconds, a measurement can be attained in either imperial or metric graduations and is displayed on an easy-to-read LED screen. This ultrasonic measurer comes with a safe, easy-to-aim red laser pointer for accuracy; measurements can be taken from either the top or the bottom of the case and a convenient memory storage and recall option is included. This product is powered by a 9-volt battery and features a low-battery indicator and automatic shut-off. It is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Product Description
It's one thing to be a talented contractor, designer or remodeler. It's a whole other thing to be a math whiz. And sometimes, those skill sets intersect in an ugly way. But all your mathematical nightmares are over if this Trimble Distance Laser Meter is in your hand, because it expertly measures distances and calculates area and volume at the touch of a button. This HD150's best feature, we think, is its ability to measure distances up to 500 feet within an incredible 2 mm, saving you an awful lot of time and effort. Just turn in on and you're in the length function. Activate the laser, put the end of the unit at the start point for your measurement, aim the laser, press a button, and the measurement appears in a second. The two interchangeable end pieces can be customized to fit whatever start point you're working from: a corner, an edge, or a flat surface, for example. Calculating area and volume is no challenge for this unit. Just measure the lengths, press a button, and your area along with the individual dimensions appears on the screen. It has a memory, too, and stores the previous 20 measurements, so your data isn't lost if you neglect to write it down right away. One of this Trimble's most impressive functions is the ability to measure a distance that can't be done directly because of an obstacle or if there's no target to aim the beam at. Think back to high school algebra - remember the Pythagorean theorem? No matter if you don't - this unit does the hard work for you. You need only set up a true 90-degree triangle, measure the two accessible sides, and the Trimble will calculate the third leg for you. Another feature we like is the continuous mode, handy if you're marking off a certain distance from something -- say, 85 feet from a doorway. The unit's display shows the actual distance as you move. Lighting conditions will affect how well this unit works, and you may find you need to pick up a target card or two for outdoor use, especially in bright sunlight, but they're inexpensive and save time and trouble. The laser won't function on glass, water and other reflective surfaces either, but again, the target card solves that problem. Take the time to thoroughly read and understand the manual; operating the unit isn't difficult, but it isn't self-explanatory. Real estate agents, property appraisers, designers, contractors, installers, remodelers - we can't think of anyone who wouldn't like having this Trimble at the ready. -- Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Rounding out the finishing kit is the Zircon VideoLevel, an electronic leveling tool that provides better accuracy than its bubble-reliant peers. The VideoLevel offers instant level precision: magnets hold the unit securely to metal studs or surfaces while LCD and audio alerts make it easy to find and mark exact level and plumb settings every time.--Carl Thress
