Product Description
The Kidde KN-COSM-B Battery-Operated Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarm combines two important safety devices into a single unit. This alarm includes a voice warning system that announces "Fire, Carbon Monoxide, Low Battery, or Smart Hush Activation." The voice alarm eliminates any confusion and clearly warns you and your family of a smoke or carbon monoxide danger, or if your battery is in need of replacement. This unit uses three AA batteries, protecting you and your family even during a power outage. This alarm uses ionization sensing technology for the smoke alarm. Ionization sensing alarms may detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Photoelectric sensing alarms may detect visible particles (associated with smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms. Kidde strongly recommends that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help insure maximum detection of the various types of fire that can occur within the home. | | Kidde KN-COSM-B Battery-Operated Combination Smoke and CO Alarm- Employs both smoke and carbon monoxide sensors.
- Stand-alone battery operated alarm is easy to install throughout the home, as no wiring is needed.
- Features a hush button to silence the alarm for non-emergency situations like a smoky dinner.
- Voice alarm eliminates confusion and clearly warns of smoke/CO danger or low battery.

Alarm Warnings Fire: The red LED will flash and be accompanied by three long alarm beeps followed by a verbal warning message "Fire! Fire!" The alarm will repeat the pattern until smoke is eliminated. View movie showing voice warning Carbon Monoxide: Four short alarm beeps followed by a verbal warning "Warning! Carbon Monoxide!" This continues until the unit is reset or the CO is eliminated. View movie showing voice warning Low Battery: One chirp followed by warning "Low Battery." The red LED light will flash. This pattern will continue every minute for the first hour. After the first hour, the red LED light will flash once every minute and will be accompanied by the chirp sound. The "Low Battery" warning will only sound once every fifteen minutes. Voice Hush Indication: "Hush Activated" and "Hush Canceled" voice announcement. Peak Level Memory: If the alarm had detected a CO level of 100ppm or higher when the Test/Reset button is pressed, the unit will announce "Carbon Monoxide Previously Detected" to warn of the CO incident. Trademarked Hush Feature for Convenience By pressing the Hush button, you can easily and safely silence nuisance alarms caused by non-emergency situations, such as overcooked dinners. This feature desensitizes the alarm for approximately 10 minutes. If the smoke is not too dense, the alarm will silence immediately, the unit will verbally announce "Hush Mode Activated", and the green LED will flash every 2 seconds for approximately 10 minutes. Reliable Battery Power, Indicator LED, Test Feature and Low-Battery Warning The battery powered alarm provides continuous protection, even during power outages. Because this alarm only helps protect you if it's working, this unit features a red LED that flashes every 30 to 40 seconds to indicate that it is operating correctly. For additional peace of mind, the alarm also contains a test/reset button that enables you to periodically test its circuitry and horn. If any form of battery failure is detected the red LED light will flash and the unit will "chirp" one time, followed by the warning message "Low Battery." This cycle will occur once every minute, and will continue for at least seven days. Seven (7) years after initial power up, this unit will "chirp" every 30 seconds. This is an "operational end of life" feature which will indicate that it is time to replace the alarm. UL 2034, the independent standard applicable to CO alarms, requires CO alarms to have an end of life warning. This requirement went into effect in March 2007, meaning any CO alarm manufactured after April 2007 with a UL listing must have this feature. Most states that require CO alarms in residential dwellings mandate that the alarm meet the UL 2034 standard. The unit measures just 5.75 inches in diameter and 1.7 inches deep, and it features a neutral, white finish. It includes tamper resist features to deter vandalism or theft. This combination smoke/CO alarm is UL listed, so you can be confident of its quality, and it is backed by a 5-year limited warranty. Inter-connectable for Improved Safety Fire and consumer experts recommend interconnected alarms for added protection. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), most Americans feel they are more at risk of being a victim of a tornado than of a house fire. Actually the opposite is true. Fires are more common than any other disaster that strikes a family at home, and can become deadly in minutes. You have on average less than three minutes from the time you hear a smoke alarm to escape a fire. The sooner you hear an alarm, the sooner you can get out safely. Smoke alarms that link together so that when one goes off, they all go off, are called interconnected alarms. These alarms provide more warnings in more places, giving your family more time to escape a house fire. Houses built after 1993 are required by building codes to have interconnected alarms that are wired into their electrical system. Trademarked Hush Feature for Convenience By pressing the Hush button, you can easily and safely silence nuisance alarms caused by non-emergency situations, such as overcooked dinners. This feature desensitizes the alarm for approximately ten minutes. - Minimizes false alarms by detecting differences between real emergencies and non-threatening conditions.
|
|
| | Dual Sensor Technology For Maximum ProtectionWhile all smoke alarms are designed to detect smoke, different sensing technologies react differently to certain types of fires. This alarm makes use of both ionization and photoelectric sensors to offer the earliest possible warning--regardless of the type of fire. Sometimes a fire can smolder for hours before erupting into flames. Photoelectric Sensing Technology is more sensitive than Ionization Sensing Technology at detecting these sorts of smoldering fires, like those caused by cigarettes burning in couches or bedding. Other fires erupt into flames quickly, like kitchen grease fires or fires fueled by paper burning in a wastebasket. Ionization Sensing Technology is generally more sensitive than Photoelectric Sensing Technology at detecting these sorts of flaming fires. Loud Alarm and Reliable Construction for Peace of Mind The loud, 85 dB alarm gets your attention quickly, so you can get out quickly or contain a minor fire before it spreads. Plus the smart dual sensor helps the detector recognize the difference between non-threatening conditions and real emergencies, so false alarms are minimized. This smoke detector meets the UL 217 standard for dual-sensor home smoke detectors, which means that it has passed tough quality-assurance tests and can be depended on to offer reliable protection. Remote Mute and Easy Battery Access for Safety and Convenience To mute unnecessary alarms instantly, you can simply point almost any household remote control at the detector and click mute--whether the remote is for your TV, stereo, DVD player, or another appliance. The convenience of this feature means that something as simple as burnt toast never tempts you to take the battery out of your smoke detector and create an unsafe situation in your home. The mute button can also be used to test the alarm function, helping you ensure that your home and family are always protected. This smoke detector is powered by two standard AA batteries (included). And, because a smoke detector is only effective if it is properly maintained, you'll appreciate that the EZ access battery door means there's no need to remove the alarm from your ceiling when it's time to change the battery. This smoke detector's neutral, white finish blends in with your décor, and the unit measures just 5.7 x 5.7 x 2.8 inches. It is backed by a limited 10 year warranty. Enhanced Performance With optimized sensor performance, this smoke detector is the most nuisance-resistant dual sensor alarm on the market. With two different sensors, you'll get warnings sooner no matter the kind of fire. View larger. |
Be assured of your home's safety with the PI2010 smoke alarm. View larger. | Dual-Sensor Technology for Improved SafetyExperts divide home fires into two groups: flaming and smoldering. Flaming fires result from flammable liquids and cooking accidents, while smoldering fires most often occur when smoking materials, such as cigarettes, are left unattended. Ionization smoke sensors may detect smaller, less visible fire particles, like those produced by flaming fires, sooner than photoelectric sensors. However, photoelectric sensors are may detect larger, more visible fire particles, such as those produced by smoldering fires, sooner than ionization sensors. Each must pass identical performance standards to obtain third-party approval and meet Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 217, the independent standard to which alarms are listed. Because you don't know what type of fire you will have in your home, experts recommend installing both types of technology for optimal protection. Experts Recommend Protection from Both Types of Fires Virtually every recognized fire authority recommends the installation of both ionization and photoelectric alarms in order to maximize protection from either flaming or smoldering fires. Kidde offers photoelectric smoke alarms, ionization smoke alarms, and dual sensor alarms, which combine both technologies in one unit. Regardless of the technology, the most important thing is to ensure that you have working smoke alarms on every floor of your home, inside each bedroom and outside sleeping areas. Studies show placing alarms in both bedrooms and hallways could increase a family's escape time by up to 15 minutes. Fire Authorities recommending both smoke alarm technologies: National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Consumer Reports National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM) Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Trademarked Hush Feature for Convenience By pressing the Hush button, you can easily and safely silence nuisance alarms caused by non-emergency situations, such as overcooked dinners. This feature desensitizes the alarm for approximately seven minutes. During this time, the alarm chirps every 30 to 40 seconds. If the smoke is too dense, the Hush feature is overridden and the alarm still sounds, and the alarm automatically resets at the end of the seven minutes. This convenient safety measure eliminates the temptation to remove the alarm's battery, which creates an unsafe situation. The PI2010 is a wire-in smoke alarm with 9V battery backup, which provides continuous protection against smoke and fire hazards even during power outages. | Interconnectable for Improved Safety Fire and consumer experts recommend interconnected alarms for added protection. Interconnects with Other Devices Interconnects with all Kidde, Firex, Fyrnetics, Lifesaver and Nighthawk alarms, strobe lights, and relay modules with interconnect functionality. Trademarked Hush Feature for Convenience By pressing the Hush button, you can easily and safely silence nuisance alarms caused by non-emergency situations, such as overcooked dinners. This alarm's Smart Hush feature has the capability of temporarily desensitizing the alarm circuit for up to 8 minutes. This feature is to be used only when a known alarm condition, such as smoke from cooking, activates the alarm. The smoke alarm is desensitized by pushing the Test/Hush button on the smoke alarm cover. If the smoke is not too dense, the alarm will silence immediately. The red LED will illuminate for 1.5 seconds every 8 seconds while in hush. This indicates that the alarm is in a temporarily desensitized condition. The smoke alarm will automatically reset after approximately 8 minutes and sound the alarm if particles of combustion are still present. Smart Hush can be used repeatedly until the air has been cleared of the condition causing the alarm. Pushing the Test/Hush button on the alarm will end the hush period. Reliable 9-Volt Battery Backup, Indicator LED, and Test Feature Because a smoke alarm only helps protect you if it's working, this unit features a red LED that flashes every 30 to 40 seconds to indicate that it is operating correctly. For additional peace of mind, the alarm also contains a test/reset button that enables you to periodically test its circuitry and horn. The alarm’s standard 9-volt battery provides continuous protection against smoke and fire hazards, even during power outages. The unit offers a low battery warning that issues a brief chirp every 30 to 40 seconds for at least seven days before losing power, letting you know that it's time to change the battery. The unit measures just 5.6 inches in diameter and 1.8 inches deep, and it features a neutral, white finish. It includes tamper resist features to deter vandalism or theft. This alarm is UL listed, so you can be confident of its quality, and it is backed by a 5-year limited warranty. Product Description
The Kidde 0919-9999 Battery-Operated Wireless Smoke Alarm allows for the easy installation of an interconnected smoke alarm system without the high cost and hassle of rewiring your home. The alarms are wirelessly linked so that when one alarm is triggered, all alarms will sound. This alarm can also be placed in a detached workshop or shed and linked into the home's interconnected system. Experts recommend interconnected alarms, because when one sounds, they all sound, providing an early warning against fire by dramatically increasing your ability to hear an alarm anywhere in your home, regardless of where the fire starts. Newer homes are required by code to have interconnected alarms. Wireless technology now enables any home to have an interconnected system. This alarm uses ionization sensing technology. Choose the Right Wireless Alarms for Your Home Kidde offers two wireless product options: a Battery Powered Smoke Alarm, and an AC Powered Smoke Alarm. These products enable you to customize your system based on your specific needs. Read below to see which Kidde wireless smoke alarms are best for your home. An interconnected system provides more warnings in more places in case of smoke or fire in your home. | The Kidde Wireless System alarms have a hush button to silence nuisance alarms. View larger. | Getting Started with Wireless Interconnect in Three Easy StepsStep 1 - Determine the type of smoke alarms currently installed in your house. 1. Battery Powered No wires; runs only on batteries. Most older homes have battery-powered smoke alarms. These alarms have no protruding wires and are battery powered. 2. Hardwired Runs on your home's electricity and may have battery backup. Only one alarm sounds when test button is pressed. If your home was built in the last 20 years, you probably have hardwired smoke alarms. If only the alarm that you test sounds, then you do not have an interconnected system. 3. Interconnected Runs on your home's electricity and may have battery backup. All alarms sound when one test button is pressed. Homes built in the last 15 years may have an interconnected smoke alarm system. If all alarms sound when you test, you have an interconnected system. Step 2 - Decide how many alarms you need in your home. The NFPA recommends at least one smoke alarm on every level of the home and in every sleeping area. Step 3 - Based on your home's current alarm set-up, decide which Kidde Wireless alarms to purchase. 1. If your home has only battery powered alarms: Purchase enough Kidde Wireless Battery Powered Smoke Alarms (0919-9999) to replace all of your current smoke alarms. You will also have the ability to add Kidde Wireless Battery Powered Alarms in additional rooms for expanded coverage. 2. If your home has only hardwired smoke alarms: Purchase enough Kidde Wireless AC Powered Smoke Alarms (1279-9999) to replace all of your current smoke alarms. You will also have the ability to add Kidde Wireless Battery Powered Alarms in additional rooms for expanded coverage. 3. If your home has interconnected smoke alarms: Purchase one Kidde Wireless AC Powered Smoke Alarms to replace one current smoke alarm. Kidde Wireless Battery Powered Alarms can then be installed in additional rooms. Interconnectable for Improved Safety Fire and consumer experts recommend interconnected alarms for added protection. This no-fuss alarm contains a rechargeable battery that runs off central electricity and lasts the lifetime of the unit. Dependable and easy to install, this no-maintenance alarm saves on labor and material costs over its lifetime. And because this alarm is interconnect-able, builders and do-it-yourself homeowners will quickly discover this is a must-have for remodels and new construction. This alarm uses ionization sensing technology. Ionization sensing alarms may detect invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner that photoelectric alarms. Photoelectric sensing alarms may detect visible particles (associated with smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms. Kidde strongly recommends that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help insure maximum detection of the various types of fire that can occur within the home. Rechargeable Batteries Save Money, Time, and Labor The Kidde Silhouette Low-Profile Smoke Alarm features a rechargeable lithium battery sealed inside the unit that recharges automatically via central electricity. If there is a power outage, the battery will recharge once the electricity is restored. Over the span of the alarm's life, this no-fuss unit saves homeowners money, time, and labor on battery changes. For builders, landlords, hoteliers, and apartment managers, this innovative feature cuts down on callbacks, material, and labor costs. The battery is designed to last the lifetime of the alarm, approximately 10 years. Once the alarm has reached the end of its life, it will chirp every 30 seconds, letting you know it's time for a replacement.
Take a closer look at the Silhouette smoke alarm with 360 degree zoom and other views. | An interconnected system provides more warnings in more places in case of fire in your home. | Easy-to-Install Alarm Features a Discreet ProfileThe Silhouette alarm's face plate protrudes less than half an inch from the ceiling, making it the most discreet alarm on the market. The encasement containing the sensor and components fits into most round, square, and octagon electrical boxes with 3-1/2-inch hole spacing and a depth of at least 2-1/8 inches. The unit is also compatible with double-gang electrical boxes. Do-it-yourselfers will appreciate the pre-stripped wiring harness, which eliminates the need for a stripper tool, and the tinned strands that increase conductivity and wire nut grip. Once the smoke alarm is installed, simply make sure the unit receives AC power for 24 hours to fully charge the battery. Interconnect-able for Improved Safety Fire and consumer experts recommend interconnected alarms for added protection. Thankfully, Silhouette alarms can be linked to create an interconnected system, ensuring that when one alarm sounds, all alarms will sound. Each alarm in the interconnect-able system is equipped with an initiating alarm memory. In the event of an emergency, the smoke alarm that first detects a hazard will feature a flashing LED, allowing firefighters to locate the smoke source quickly and efficiently. All other alarms in the system will sound; however, their LEDs will not flash. This feature is especially useful in apartment buildings, condominiums, hotels, and dormitories. Silhouette’s Low-Profile Smoke Alarm will interconnect to a system containing a maximum of 18 Kidde devices, 12 of which can be smoke alarms. Trademarked Hush Feature for Convenience By pressing the Silhouette Low-Profile Smoke Alarm's Hush button, you can easily and safely silence nuisance alarms caused by non-emergency situations, such as overcooked dinners. Be assured of your home's safety with the PI9000 smoke alarm. Fire Authorities recommending both smoke alarm technologies: National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC)U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)Consumer ReportsNational Association of State Fire Marshals (NASFM)Underwriters Laboratory (UL)Trademarked Hush Feature for Convenience By pressing the Hush button, you can easily and safely silence nuisance alarms caused by non-emergency situations, such as overcooked dinners. The BRK hardwire smoke alarm with photoelectric sensor is designed to reduce common "nuisance" alarms. It's an excellent choice for installations in or near kitchens, near fireplaces, or in hallways directly outside bathrooms, utility rooms, or other areas prone to steam. This alarm is also a popular choice for hotel/motel applications. The 7010B AC-powered smoke alarm with photoelectric sensor includes these features: - Photoelectric sensor which is more effective at detecting smoldering fires which smolder for hours before bursting into flame.
- 120-volt VAC inter-connectable (with maximum 18 compatible devices). The alarm can be interconnected with up to 12 other compatible smoke alarms and six compatible devices like bells, horns, repeaters and door closers. If one unit triggers an alarm, all smoke alarms in the series will sound. Power indicators show which unit in the series initiated the alarm.
- Quick plug-in power connector for easy installation.
- 9-volt battery backup for peace of mind during power malfunction.
- Alarm indication which in an interconnected system, automatically identifies which unit initiated the alarm.
- Optipath 360 technology allows 360-degree access to the layer of air on the ceiling or wall that carries the fire signatures (smoke, combustion particles and volatile components).
- Single test/silence button which both silences a non-threatening alarm or low battery warning and allows you to test the unit's functionality.
- Locking feature for tamper resistance.
- 10-year limited warranty.
All BRK Electronics smoke alarms meet UL 217 standard and are listed with the California State Fire Marshal. They use the new UL mandated repeating 85-decibel alarm horn pattern. 10-year limited warranty. --Bree NorlanderWhat's in the Box One smoke alarm, one 9-volt battery, and user's manual

Where does carbon monoxide come from? | Smoke Alarms Save LivesFire is a serious threat to every household; it can strike anywhere, any time. The frightening truth is that in 2005, there were nearly 381,000 home fires in the U.S., resulting in over 16,000 casualties. Thankfully, smoke alarms like the SA720CN help to reduce the risk of death in a household fire by up to 50 percent. The more smoke alarms you have installed in your home, the higher the chance you'll be alerted to a fire in time to escape. Smoke/Fire Detection and Escape Light Get You to Safety The SA720CN smoke alarm alerts you to smoke and fire with a loud 85-decibel alarm. An escape light located right on the unit activates with the alarm and helps you see the path to safety. Many mistakenly believe that fires burn bright enough to sufficiently illuminate enclosed areas. In truth, fires often burn very dark, making it difficult for you to see a clear path out of harm's way. That's why the escape light is so vital; it provides the necessary illumination you need to get yourself and your family outside as quickly as possible. Innovative Photoelectric Sensing Technology Detects Even Slow, Smoldering Fires The SA720CN alarm uses photoelectric sensing technology, which is generally more sensitive than commonly used ionization technology, to detect large smoke particles. Large smoke particles tend to be produced in greater amounts by slow-to-burn fires (often caused by cigarettes burning in couches or bedding), which may smolder for hours before bursting into flame. An added bonus, photoelectric sensing technology reduces false alarms like those caused by cooking smoke and shower steam. As easy to operate as it is effective, the SA720CN boasts patented OptiPath technology, which provides 360-degrees of direct access to the smoke sensor. Additionally, a mute button quickly silences false alarms for up to 15 minutes and also doubles as an alarm test button. Advanced Features Test, Protect, and Monitor Battery Power Because smoke alarms are only as effective as their batteries, the SA720CN comes equipped with features that protect its battery (included) and make it clear when the battery needs replaced. First, an easy-access side battery drawer makes it a snap to change the battery without removing the alarm from the wall or ceiling. A blinking power indicator confirms that the unit is receiving power, and an alarm will chirp once per minute when the battery needs to be replaced. Additionally, a battery-guard drawer resists closing unless the battery is inside, and an optional theft-prevention lock secures the alarm when activated, so that the battery and/or alarm cannot be removed without proper tools, preventing children or others from compromising the alarm's ability to detect smoke and fire. The SA720CN comes with a 10-year limited warranty. What's in the Box Smoke alarm, user's manual, and nine-volt battery.

Product Description
The AC-powered, hardwired Kidde i12020 ionization smoke alarm is designed to protect you and your family from the dangers of smoke and fire. This smoke alarm's trademarked hush feature allows you to silence nuisance alarms, while an indicator LED and test feature let you easily confirm that the alarm is working. The basic Kidde i12020 smoke alarm wires into your home's electrical system. | i12020 Wire-In Smoke Alarm At a Glance: - Ionization sensing technology detects invisible fire particles
- Smart hush feature silences nuisance alarms
- Pre-stripped wiring harness with tinned strands
- 10-year limited warranty
| | | | Features The Kidde i12020 smoke alarm offers a tamper-resistant feature to deter vandalism or theft and a smart interconnect system that connects with up to 24 Kidde devices--including other smoke alarms plus carbon monoxide and heat alarms. It has a large mounting base that helps protect surface paint from dirt and covers imperfections, and its pre-stripped wiring harness has an easy-off cap and tinned strands to increase conductivity. By pressing the hush button, you can easily and safely silence nuisance alarms caused by non-emergency situations, such as overcooked dinners. The Kidde i12020 smoke alarm uses ionization sensing technology, which generally detects invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Photoelectric sensing alarms may detect visible particles (associated with smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms. Kidde recommends that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to insure maximum detection.
