Product Description
Are you searching for a driving game that offers more than just breakneck speed? Look no further than Gran Turismo 4. The most recent installment in this amazingly popular racing game brings realistic driving to a whole new level. With loads of new cars and a vastly improved physics engine, you'll be ready to tackle the roads in your favorite cars from the last century. The Cars Automotive history is at your fingertips with Gran Turismo 4. You can select from over 700 cars, dating back nearly a century to the 1915 Ford Model T Tourer. From the United Kingdom's AC to Sweden's Volvo, you'll can choose from practically every car manufactured since 1915. Beyond the list of cars, GT4 sports a new and vastly improved physics engine. Offering even greater realism than its predecessors, the GT4 engine has been meticulously designed to cover every inch and turn of your driving experience. Using physics to calculate weight, speed, friction, and a host of other nuances, every car delivers performance with its own unique, precise handling and feel. This game isn't just about the cars, though -- it's also about the competition. The advanced, lifelike drivers compete with fervor unmatched even by some of your video game buddies. Fueled by the latest advances in artificial intelligence, your digital rivals will react to your every move with behavior modeled after actual professional racers. It may take you weeks to test drive all 700 available cars, but with Gran 4 you'll never truly run out of "new" vehicles. This game is equipped with a multitude of options to customize your favorite cars. Brakes, shocks, and engine components can all be upgraded. You can stylize your car with wings, rims, and color, and you can even change your oil. In short, you can do whatever needs to be done to keep your car tuned and looking hot for the next big race. The Human Element Gran Turismo 4 brings something completely new to your gaming experience. In the stands you'll find spectators who comes to life in 3D before your very eyes. They react with genuine human emotions to your every move, cheering as you pass, and snapping photographs as you cross the finish line. Your next pit stop will take place as if you were really there. You'll watch the process unfold in real-time as your crew rushes to change your tires and refuel your tank. But that's not all. With the new addition of convertibles, you are truly in the drivers seat. Your drivers will react with precise and fluid motions, and turn just as you would if you were behind the wheel. Gran Turismo has never looked so unbelievably real. The Courses Not only does GT4 bring you the rare opportunity to drive hundreds of cars, it also offers you a vast collection of actual racing locations. Rip through the exotic Costa di Malfi in Capri, burn rubber through the urban jungle of Hong Kong, or throw up some serious dust at the Grand Canyon -- no matter where you decide to race, you'll love driving any of the game's fourteen tracks. Feeling nostalgic? With Gran 4, you can even race on some of your old, favorite tracks from previous editions. LAN Play Compete against your buddies with the LAN play functionality of GT4. Connect up to three PlayStation 2 consoles and bring together up to six players in a racing frenzy that pits you against your friends. Each console will need a copy of Gran Turismo 4, the proper connecting cables, and all the standard gaming equipment. Once connected, you'll be ready for a life-like battle of driving abilities and mental toughness. With LAN play, the action has never been more intense or more realistic!

|
Product Description
Midnight Club II builds on the illegal street racing fun found in the PS2 launch title Midnight Club. Like that game it pits you against street toughs in non-linear street races, all for bragging rights and access to better and more sophisticated rides. New in Midnight Club II are the police and the ability to drive a motorcycle. The game begins with you in the charge of a slob named Moses. He acts as tutor, teaching you how to control your beater car and how to use power-ups, as well as offering overall moral support. He teaches you how to go about the business of the game: earning new gear such as Nitrous Oxide, new cars, and even new controls. The award of new controls later in the game show how you're a novice driver at the start but by the end you're a pro who can land on all four wheels after a jump, expertly control a power slide turn, and much, much more. Much of the game consists of cruising around three large and well rendered cities: Paris, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. You don't just challenge someone to a race or sign up for an event and show up. Instead you get a map and have to follow a red dot. The dot is a rival racer. Once you track and chase him down, you flash your high beams and then you can race him. It's a clever way of giving you a warm up, keeping you immersed in the game, and best of all, teaching you the layout of each city. Racing is fun, fast, and furious. This isn't a simulation, it's an arcade-style racer--but the physics system is internally consistent so it feels more "realistic" than it actually is. Rockstar has put a premium on keeping you in control, keeping the thrill-factor high, and giving you a heart stopping sense of speed. The graphics are fantastic and the cities are incredibly detailed. As a counter-point, the voice acting is just plain awful. Midnight Club II offers a wide range of game modes ensuring it will be playable for a long time to come: career, mission, and a mode that lets you just jump into a race. Multiplayer is possible in hotseat mode, but it also supports Internet play. Internet lag is bad over dial-up modem (PS2), but broadband players (Xbox Live or PS2) will find the game silky smooth. All of this makes Midnight Club II a great addition to any videogame racing fan's library, but a must for online fans.--Bob Andrews Pros: - Great physics, intense action
- Excellent graphics
- Plenty of game modes, including broadband multiplayer
Cons:
Product Description
In Midnight Club II you are an elite, next-generation illegal street racer, racing through the cities of Paris, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. Each location boasts open-ended routes, loads of shortcuts, and massive jumps. Filled with pedestrians, vehicles backing out of driveways, benches, lights, parking meters, trash, and other municipal properties, these living cities will require complete concentration and deft driving skills.
Product Description
Midnight Club II takes you to the streets of the world's biggest cities, to experience the future of illegal racing! Four-person multiplayer action to keep your adrenalin pumping

Product Description
The PlayStation2 takes the Gran Turismo franchise to new heights in the third edition of the venerable racing series. The graphics are sure to grab you--the cars and tracks are awe inspiring, and there are some incredible lighting effects. This game is much more than eye candy, though. The gameplay in Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec is the same as its predecessors; fans of the previous games will feel right at home, while newcomers will be able to pick things up easily. There are more than 150 cars from which to choose, and plenty of tracks upon which to race them. Arcade mode works well for a quick fix, while simulation mode provides outstanding replay value. The sound effects are impressive--each engine has a unique sound, and tire screeches from different cars sound noticeably different. The soundtrack is a good mix of original compositions and a wide variety of recording artists, including Motley Crue, Raekwon, Jimi Hendrix, and Snoop Dogg. One minor flaw with the game is its relatively predictable artificial intelligence. Computer-controlled cars follow distinct lines, and you'll be able to pick up the patterns after a few races. Considering how far the graphics have come since the original Gran Turismo, it's disappointing that the AI hasn't progressed similarly. Despite this, GT3 remains an outstanding game. Few games offer its combination of high quality and immense variety. --Raymond M. Padilla Pros: - Incredible graphics
- Excellent physics and controls
- Great soundtrack
Cons: - Predictable AI
- No Porsche or Ferrari licenses
Product Description
The third title of the Gran Turismo series takes full advantage of the new PlayStation2 game engine, which is capable of rendering about 20 million polygons per second--roughly 10 times the number of total polygons of the series' previous installment, Gran Turismo 2. Real-time lighting forces your eyes to adjust to changing conditions, such as when a car rounds a turn and the sun comes out from behind a building to cause glare on the windshield. This makes the game harder, but more realistic. Heat rises off the ground and mist swirls around vehicles as they make their way across the racetrack. Gran Turismo 3 also features more than 100 distinct cars, each with different statistics, including the Subaru Impreza Rally, Dodge Viper GTS-R, and Mazda's RX-7 RS. Computer-controlled opponents benefit from enhanced artificial intelligence; they don't act like baby ducks following their mother, but instead respond to other cars, the course, and the conditions in much the same way that real drivers would. Pressure a car, and it will pressure you back; cut one off in the early part of the race, and expect to receive similar treatment down the course. They don't drive perfectly, either; some will spin out and make other mistakes over the course of a race.

Simpsons Road Rage takes popular Simpsons' characters as they go crazy on the streets of Springfield!
Product Description
There's road rage, and then there's road rage Simpsons style! D'oh! Mr. Burns is up to his greedy ways again. He's purchased Springfield's transit corporation and heinously jacked up the fares. Refusing to shell out for the new rates, the road rage ensues. You'll take on commuters and jam-packed back routes, all in an effort to help buy back the corporation before time runs out. More than 25 Simpsons characters climb behind the wheel or wander the streets begging for a ride. "Eat my shorts, dude!" Careen through timesaving shortcuts and take on terrain including hills, mountains, and forests. Wreak havoc in five Springfield neighborhoods that include landmarks such as Moe's Bar and the nuclear power plant. Busy traffic and wayward pedestrians confound your rage. However, two-wheel leans, speed starts, power slides, and other cool car physics help you release that rage. Multiple game modes let you go head-to-head in two-player split-screen action that challenges your opponent in a race for the next passenger, or you can steal his or her passenger midride! Complete up to 60 unique passenger deliveries in story mode, or take a leisurely Sunday drive through the fair Springfield. PS2 Midnight Club: Street Racing - Game Only - No Manual or Case
Product Description
The main premise of Midnight Club Street Racing is that you and your pals take to the streets each night to race hot rods around town. Along the way, you'll terrorize those pedestrians who are crazy enough to be outdoors at night, and generally crash into anything that's vertical. It goes without saying that then you'll spend most of your daytime hours pounding out the dents from the previous night's misadventures. Midnight Club Street Racing plays like a combination of the high-res street shenanigans of the Dreamcast's Tokyo Extreme Racing and the mission-based mayhem of the PS One's Driver. You've got two fantastic urban vistas in which to roam around--New York and London--and a jacked-up little runabout in which to do it. The game isn't just about racing, but about racing from point to point, too, or playing follow the leader. Graphically appealing (if more than a little flat, but that doesn't detract) and speedy, this game might not tax the PlayStation2 hardware, but it might tax your skills as a gamer if you don't keep up. Maps to the city are available whenever you need them, and make it rather difficult to get lost. It's advisable to try, however--there are tons of miniroutes to traverse. No route is sacrosanct--you can bash through plate-glass windows, barrel through underground parking structures, meander across parks, and even pogo from roof to roof. In this way, the game has a bit of that good ole Driver feel; although, the further in you play, the night skies and somber tone of the city dispel some of this feel. Midnight Club Street Racing is a great game, and yet another reason for new PlayStation2 owners to smile. While it's not terribly groundbreaking, it's one game that's loads of fun to play. --Todd Mowatt Pros: - Solid and fun race mechanics
- Sprawling cityscapes, with multiple routes
- Two-player games add replayability
Cons: - City objects lack definition
- Only two cities in which to race

Drivers and ATVs react accordingly as they hit the ground, and other riders need to be wary when someone takes a wipeout--one fall on these tight courses can send a shockwave of collisions through the pack. The game provides arcade-style controls, which fit perfectly with the best aspects of the game. ATV Offroad Fury is one game that is best played with friends, as the artificial intelligence is unrealistically consistent. If you mess up, computer-controlled riders slow down to offer you a chance to get back into things. It does not seem to matter how poorly a player does for the first three laps of a five-lap race. If no mistakes are made in the final two laps, the computer opponents are easily overtaken. The tracks are separated into three distinct groups: indoors, outdoors, and freestyle. The indoor tracks are fairly similar, as they are the same type of supercross tracks that you would see in a motocross game. The outdoor tracks, however, show much more variety in their terrains and backgrounds. From lush forests to harsh deserts all the way to snow-covered tundra, every track provides a different experience. The game's sound is merely decent; hearing those high-pitched engines at full throttle for too long begins to sound like you are being chased by a pack of killer bees. Overall, ATV is a solid game that most everyone will want to try. The multiplayer mode really makes for a great party game, not only for its earnest competitiveness, but also for the entertainment value of the crashes and lunatic jumps and stunts. --Todd Mowatt Pros: - 22 different tracks
- 20 different ATVs
- Crisp control
- Plenty of depth and replayability
Cons: - AI makes for unrealistic races
- Combo tricks are very difficult to pull off
- Poor use of the PS2 controller force-feedback feature

Product Description
The first BMX game out of the gates for the PS2 is Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2, developed by Z-Axis. Like any extreme sports game, the key here is the trick system, and this one is incredibly deep with more than 1,500 tricks to perform. Basic tricks are easy to execute and can be modified with an additional button-and-direction combo. Unfortunately, these trick modifiers aren't always responsive. The game's modes are Session, Free Ride, Park Editor, and ProQuest. Session is a timed run on any of the game's levels. Free Ride lets you nail the game's timing and become familiar with its courses. The extensive Park Editor lets you design your own levels. The meat of the game is in ProQuest, which has two submodes: competition and challenges. The ultimate goal is to win enough competitions to become the king of freestyle BMX. The challenges help you earn "respect," which can be used to upgrade your gear. The game's excellent soundtrack includes songs from Fenix TX, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest--three acts few in their wildest dreams envisioned together. The game's addictive gameplay is marred by several programming glitches, the most annoying of which is haphazard respawning. After crashing, the game often places you in positions where you'll instantly wipeout or appear inside an object. Polygons sometimes appear on the screen for no apparent reason and the frame rate slows down at times. Still, this is a very addictive game that will have no competition until Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 is released. --Raymond M. Padilla Pros: Addictive gameplay Improved graphics and larger levels than the original Basic tricks are easy to pull off Cons: Respawning can be frustrating Trick modifiers can be fickle Graphics glitches such as pop-up, slowdown, and poor collision detection

Product Description
Customization is key in Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2. In this release, players can create their own riders (or ride as BMX champ Dave Mirra, Ryan Nyquist, and others in an impressive posse of BMX pros), choose their own sponsors, and even design their own parks in which to complete a variety of challenges. As players progress through the game, they'll earn the respect of fellow riders. The ultimate, though, is to unseat Mirra himself as king of the BMX hill. Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 also supports up to 12 players and features 10 multiplayer games, including an extreme bikathalon competition. Also, the release includes eight additional game levels, and they're four times beefier than before. Tear and trick through a total of 11 levels with this edition. The game is completed by integrated traffic, including moving cars, trains, trucks, and even other riders and pedestrians. The open trick system in Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 holds more than 1,500 tricks and signature moves--many of them motion captured off Mirra himself. And a fitting soundtrack accompanies the game, featuring cuts from Ozzy Osbourne, Methods of Mayhem, the Cult, Godsmack, and others.

Product Description
Freekstyle, while generally a strong game, can't help but be the lesser cousin of EA Sports Big's smash hits SSX and SSX Tricky. The moves are more complicated, the learning curve is steeper, and the charm is relatively absent for this title compared to its more successful predecessors. And woe to those who miss a steep jump and expect to hit Restart, as in SSX. You'll be forced to take the jump again, with much less velocity than before you wiped out. Plus, you'll need to hit it over and over and over, a fact that makes initial play somewhat tedious. Still, it's unfair to punish Electronic Arts for their past perfection. On its own, Freekstyle has plenty to keep motocross fans happy: courses both for tricking and racing, real-world riders, and complicated road maps filled with pleasing secret shortcuts. --Jennifer Hauseman Pros: - Gamers can do multiple top-speed tricks in "bullet time"
- Good game mechanics and environments
- Real-life motocross champions
Cons: - Boring music and graphic design
- Steep learning curve
