When my friend came back from her fishing vacation she gave me a gift that she had cross-stitched while resting from fishing. She wanted to cross-stitch several more, but had left the pattern at the lake location and would not be able to get it till next year. Could I help? I said maybe.
As I have never done any cross-stitch myself, but am familiar with how it is done I thought it would be an easy matter to just place a new grid over the scanned picture and make a new pattern. I soon found that I would have to make a complete new pattern using another cross-stitch program and inputting all of the stitches. This could have been done, but I decided to use another approach using CorelDRAW 9 and PHOTO-PAINT 9. Since all of the stitches and colors were already there why not use it as the pattern instead of making a complete new one. This tutorial can be completed in versions 5-9. A photo of the gift is shown at right.
