Let me first admit that as a long time camper, I know that there are things in this picture that are not what a true camper would do. I just got carried away with all the neat symbols that work in this picture. I will give you some information on most of the symbols without repeating some of my previous tutorials. Remember you have to Break Apart the symbols before you can work with them.
Let's start with the diagram at right and the garbage can. It's #59 from the Tool symbols. It's pretty straight forward but I did Combine the handle with the lid so you can see through it. It is filled with a Custom Linear Fill. The fire and logs are from #65 in the Sign symbols. Delete the outline and just use the flame and logs.
Make an oval and Extrude it to get the fire pit. Fill it with a Custom Linear Fill. Make another oval for the bottom and fill it with a red and black Noise Blended Texture fill to give the appearance of coals. Duplicate and mirror some of the logs and put them in the fire pit. They are filled with a Texture Blend, Vertical Texture Fill. Add the fire filled with a Custom Linear Fountain Fill of yellows and reds. Group your fire pit.
The hatchet is #109 from the Sport & Hobbies symbols. The blade has a Custom Linear Fountain Fill with a solid color handle. Rotate the hatchet and stick it behind some of the logs. You will need to rotate your blade fill to make it look right. Group your logs and hatchet.
The watermelon in our next diagram is #148 from the Food symbols. It is cut apart in four places and those pieces are discarded. The melon is filled with a background of a Custom Linear fill and solid fills, and the pieces have a very narrow outline. Group the melon. The slices are #147 from the Food Symbols and are treated much the same way. The slices are filled with a Noise Blended Texture Fill. In looking for a plate to put the watermelon on, I had to settle for the plate under the pig. Delete as much of the pig as you can and then delete the nodes around the pig. Eventually you can get a straight line for the top of the plate. The inside of the plate is also filled with a Noise Blended Texture Fill. The outside is a solid blue fill taking off the outline. Group the plate and melon slices.
The picnic table #182 from the Geographic Symbols is a challenge, but stick with it. People will not believe you made it from a symbol. Extrude it keeping the X off to the Northeast with a small back. You want to be able to see the top of the table. The table will have to be Separated and then Ungrouped to work with it after it has been extruded. Using the diagram, start filling the table from the front. This will take some experimenting. Pick the "holes" in the table and Combine them with the "seat" until it looks like Figure A. In Figure B, fill the top with a Checker Board Two Color Pattern Fill. Add a node in the center front and drag it down a bit. You can Duplicate that, delete the back two nodes and Outline that piece in red to define the drop off the table. Figures A and B are the same as I drew them for this tutorial. Figure C is the one from the picture and is slightly different. The tops of the seats are filled with a Two Color Pattern Fill. Make the slats very narrow. Group the table. Size the watermelon and slices to fit the table. To do the flowers in the pitcher, follow the instructions for the vase in Dancing in the Dark in the Park.
Simplify the candle a bit. The flame is just one piece with a Custom Linear Fountain Fill, similar to the fire, with no outline around it. The inside of the candle has no outline and the outline on the outside is very narrow. Delete the things in the candle holder and filled the bottom with a Linear Fountain Fill and the top and handle with a Custom Linear Fountain Fill. The hole is Combined with the handle.
The little boy, #42 in the People symbols, is the "brother" of the girl in MacHughking's Farm. Do the boy the same way as the girl in Old MacHughking Had A Farm.
The tent is #101 in the Sports & Hobbies symbols. The outside of the tent is Dark Green, the "doors" are Moss Green and the four little spaces around the "doors" are C20, M0, Y0 and K50. Combine the two "doors", Figure 1, and fill them following the Radial Fill Chart, Figure 2. Put the candle under the "glow", Figure 3.
In our next diagram, we will deal with the bear and the trees. The bear, #40 from the Animal 1 symbols, only has two legs. Make a duplicate for spare parts and follow the same directions as for the dog in Old MacHughking Had A Farm. The fill is a Textured Fill, Styles, Surfaces 3C. Add an eye and Group the bear.
#38 in the Plant symbols can be used in a lot of ways. In Figure 1 cut the trunk away from the tree. Then in Figure 2 the trunk is stretched and shaped and put to the back. This is one of many of the same tree in the picture. Duplicate some pieces and stretch the tree in different ways. Figure 2's trunk is filled with a brown and the rest is a Noise Blended Texture fill. Plant #35 gets the same treatment only do not stretch the trunk. Also add a few more holes. It is filled with a Diorite Texture Fill.
I finally decided that something could be done with Plant #40. The way it comes up in the symbols, it cannot be filled except for around the outside. The way to fix it is to delete all the nodes on the inside line. You can node edit what is left and then the tree can be filled. Figure 3. Deleted the "holes" and then make smaller ones. Cut the trunk and fill it with a brown. The rest of the tree is filled with a Fiber Texture Fill in Fall colors. Figure 4.
The sky at right is a Clouds Morning Texture Fill. I hit the Preview button a few times until it looked right with the moon, a Radial Fountain Fill. Figure 1. The moon has a Texture Transparency, Sky Two Colors Fill on top of it to give the effect of clouds in front of the moon. Figure 2.
The pond, Figure 3, is just an oval. It is filled with Water Three Colors with two of them quite dark. Then a Texture Transparency, Water Two Colors is added. Duplicate the pond, stretch it, fill it with a dark sand color and put it behind the pond.
The picnic chest, the grill, the bikes and the tree stump are also symbols. The fills in the ground area are two different shades of Texture Fill Texture Blend Horizontal. The strip of green behind the pond is a Linear Fountain Fill with a Texture Transparency of Noise Blended. It took some playing with all the colors to get the look of night but still be able to see the objects in the picture. It's a little hard to see, but the two figures on the other side of the pond are deer.
So we all know that Mom and Pop should not be sitting down by the pond with Junior in the tent with a candle. The food should be put away so the bear doesn't get it and someone should be watching the fire!
