In the June 1997 issue of Corel Magazine, the first letter to the editor discusses a problem with changing the Scale with Image attribute on clip-art. Unfortunately the answer given wasn't the quickest method. In Draw 7 or 8 use the Edit Find and Replace function to Replace Objects. This will allow you to change several different outline attributes including Scale with Image. If you had been to one of our seminars, you would already know this as we show this feature and many more.

CorelDRAW 7 defaults to 99 levels of Undo. This number of undo levels can easily be the cause of program crashes. To change the default setting click on Tools | Options (CTRL-J) to bring up the Options dialog box shown below. Click on the General tab to reveal the General option settings. At the lower right section of the dialog box is the Undo section. Change the default of 99 Regular undos to 10 and leave the Bitmap Undo level at 1. Click on the Ok button and you're done.
Got a tablet? Does it lock up when you use Color Manager? Well Wacom does have a solution for the problem. You must download the latest driver (v2.45) from their website at http://www.wacom.com After you’ve installed the driver, go back to your install disk. On that disk is a "Win" directory. Below that is a "3195" directory. In the 3195 directory, locate the file named "Com_ping.fix". Make a copy of the file and rename it "Wacom.vxd". From DOS (***NOT*** a DOS prompt within Windows), copy this file into your Windows/System directory. When you reboot, the problem will be gone.
One of the questions that comes up often is a problem of words magically appearing. For example, if you type the letter "s" or "j" followed by a space, you’ll receive the word "sincerely" or "gentlemen" respectively. Users are furious about this "bug". Well, it is actually a feature and there is an easy fix. It comes courtesy of Type Assist. Go to Tools | Options. Now select the Type Assist tab. The last checkbox is for Replace Text while Typing. The simple solution is to uncheck the box. But this really is a good feature that you’ll want to use. So look in the list at the bottom of the dialog box. Scroll down until you find "j" and "s". Delete each of the entries or whichever one is driving you crazy. But why not leverage this feature. How about including a replacement for your name. For example, I created an entry that will expand my initials of "FDC" to "Foster D. Coburn III". That sure saves me the trouble of typing and the possibility of spelling it wrong if I don’t pay attention to my typing.
