Flights

For those flying, you should schedule your flights into Ottawa International Airport (YOW).

Rental Cars

For those who wish to rent a car, we highly suggest that you rent a car at the Ottawa airport. For those who would consider a taxi, please think twice as it would be very expensive. Approximate cost to taxi to downtown or Corel Learning Center is $25 Cdn.

Car rental companies are located in the arrivals area of the terminal building. Local phone numbers are Avis 739-3334, Budget 521-4844, Dollar 736-5527, Hertz 521-3332, Thrifty 737-4510, and National Tilden 737-7023. If you do rent a car, remember that the posted speed limits are in kilometers (km) not miles! (for example, a 100 km posting is equivalent to 60 mph).

Other Airport Transportation

There are shuttle services available to the downtown core, but we highly recommend that you rent a car so that you can explore the area in your free time. For shuttle service call 613/736-9993 or 888/862-7433. Fares $9 Cdn one-way, $14 Cdn return. Hours of operation 6:00 a.m. - 1:30 a.m. with a frequency of every 30 minutes. Departs from airport 20 minutes before the hour and 10 minutes after the hour.

Note: High average temperature in early April in Ottawa is 11°C or 52°F and the low is above freezing. Make sure you bring a warm jacket for outdoor evening activities. The snow will have melted by then so there is no need to bring any winter gear.

Note: Presently there is no Corel signage on the building. Look for a blue iMPATH logo on the 4 story, off-white building.

From Downtown Ottawa: From downtown (depends where your hotel is), get onto Hwy 417 West. Take the Carling / Kirkwood exit. Turn left at the 1st set of lights that you see - this will be Kirkwood. Stay on Kirkwood for about 2 minutes. Turn right onto Merivale Road. Stay on Merivale Road for about 2 minutes. Once you cross over Baseline Road, you are almost there. Turn left at the building called IMPATH (3 story building) - 1431 Merivale Road. Corel occupies the 2nd and 3rd floor of this building. Take the elevator up to the 3rd floor, turn left off the elevator and look for the signs pointing to the Discovery training room.

Directions from the Corel Merivale building to the Corel Carling building

Note: These directions will be for the tour mid-day on Friday.

From the Merivale building parking lot, turn right onto Merivale Rd. (North). You will stay on Merivale Rd (North) for about 1 or 2 minutes. At the 4th set of lights, turn left onto Kirkwood. You will stay on Kirkwood for about 1 minute. At the 4th set of lights (just after you drive under an overpass), turn left onto Carling. You will stay on Carling for about 1 minute. At the 2nd set of lights, turn left (you will see Corel's big gold building). Turn left into the Corel parking lot. Take a parking stub as you drive into the lot. Park anywhere you can find a spot.

* Please make sure that you hand Tanya your parking stub as she will have it stamped so you will not have to pay for parking.

Directions from Corel's Learning Centre to Tucker's Marketplace Restaurant

Note: These directions are for the dinner on Friday night.

From Corel's Learning Center parking lot, turn right onto Merivale Rd. (North). You will stay on Merivale Rd (North) for about 1 or 2 minutes. At the 4th set of lights, turn left onto Kirkwood. You will stay on Kirkwood for about 1 minute. At the 3rd set of lights (just before the overpass), turn right and get onto Highway 417 (as soon as you turn right, you will see the on-ramp to get onto Hwy 417). You will stay on the 417 for about 10 or 15 minutes (really depends on traffic). Take the Nicholas exit (the off-ramp will take you up and over the 417, towards downtown - which is North bound). Continue on Nicholas for about 4 lights, turn left onto Besserer Street (you will see Les Suites Hotel on your left hand side). Then take your first right onto Dalhousie Street. At the second set of lights go left onto York. The restaurant is on the right side, next to Hard Rock Café.

What to Bring

The most important thing to bring is yourself. We will be providing handouts, but we highly suggest that you bring something to take notes on. You are welcome to audio tape the session, but no videotape please.

Meals

Lunch is provided for all classes and a barbeque dinner is provided on the second evening of the boot camp. If there are any special considerations that we need to be aware of, please let us know at least a day in advance. We will also be providing soda and coffee throughout each class.
