CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 Service Pack 1: Issues Resolved
The overall stability and performance of CorelDRAW and Corel PHOTO-PAINT have been improved. There are enhancements in the following areas.
Application Workspace
Scrolling through the command list in the Customization dialog box no longer makes the application unstable.
The commands on the Adjust menu in Corel PHOTO-PAINT can now be customized.
Selecting a toolbox flyout item in the Customization dialog box no longer removes the item from the toolbox.
The user interface of the Text, Step and Repeat, and Bevel dockers has been enhanced.
If you are using a custom workspace that contains onscreen color palettes, these color palettes will be displayed the next time you start CorelDRAW.
The Shape Tool property bar has been enhanced, making it easier to edit multiple selected objects.
The Font list box has been enhanced.
Bitmap Controls & Effects
In CorelDRAW, converting objects to bitmaps in the same color space will no longer cause color shifts.
The colors of drop shadows in the RGB color space are displayed and reproduced accurately when composited in CMYK (and vice versa).
Color
Custom spot colors used in Device N images are now saved with the file instead of defaulting to black.
Fountain fills with clockwise fills of the same color are now displayed in the Enhanced with Overprints view mode.
Note: After installing Service Pack 1, CorelDRAW files containing Device N images with custom spot colors may have the color values or color names altered when opened in CorelDRAW.
Import/Export Filters
Adobe Illustrator (AI)
Objects will no longer shift on the page when you are round-tripping an Adobe Illustrator file in CorelDraw.
Adobe Illustrator files are now centered on the page when opened in CorelDRAW.
AI files containing AI and EPS objects are now imported more reliably.
DXF
Text in imported DXF files no longer shifts.
JPEG (JPG)
When opened in CorelDRAW and Corel PHOTO-PAINT, JPEG files now maintain the same DPI as the EXIF data.
Portable Document Format (PDF)
The Encode text as Unicode option can now be saved in a PDF style.
By default, AI-compatible PDF files are now opened or imported using the Import PDF filter unless you choose to use the AI filter.
When published to PDF, vector objects that use the "Scale with Image" outline property now produce a smaller file size.
The Publish to PDF filter now supports paletted images and files with full color pattern fills.
The PDF import filter now supports PDF files with PDF destinations (bookmarks) and PDF files created with Quark 6.5 and containing images with OPI data.
HPGL Plotter (PLT)
Shifting of objects no longer occurs in exported PLT files.
EPS/PRN/PS
EPS files with transparent headers imported with the Place as Encapsulated PostScript option enabled behave as expected.
When you are importing PRN files created with CorelDRAW X3, object dimensions are maintained.
When you are importing multiple EPS files, the settings you select in the first appearance of the Import dialog box will be used for all the EPS files.
EPS files created with CorelDRAW X3 no longer return PostScript Output return errors when output from previous CorelDRAW versions or Corel Ventura.
Adobe Photoshop (PSD)
When you export files containing clipping paths from Corel PHOTO-PAINT to the Adobe Photoshop format (PSD), the clipping path is maintained.
TIFF Bitmap (TIF)
TIF files exported from Corel PHOTO-PAINT can now contain transparent backgrounds.
Object Attributes & Controls
Finding and replacing colors in CorelDRAW have been enhanced.
The VBA Object Model now supports undo operations.
OLE
Workspace settings are remembered when you are editing an OLE object in place.
Preflight
The Publish to PDF Preflight dialog box supports extended characters.
Printing
The Print Merge feature has been enhanced to better support Comma Separated files.
Files containing fountain fills now print better to PostScript printers.
Files created in earlier versions of CorelDRAW and containing spot colors no longer produce blank pages when printed.
When printing to a printer with PPD enabled, multiple copies of the document can be printed.
Objects containing pattern fills that have been scaled, skewed and rotated are printed correctly to PostScript printers.
Square fills with any Edge Pad settings are now displayed correctly in a PostScript level 3 output.
The printed output of text as well as objects containing no outline and mesh fills with spot colors has been improved.
The Output Color Bitmaps as Grayscale feature has been enhanced.
The Print Preview dialog box has improved performance.
Notes:
If your regional settings are set to use a comma as a separator, the PostScript output will be more reliable.
Some full color pattern fills with changed origin may produce incorrect preview and output from PostScript printers.
Overprints on objects are not preserved when the objects are converted to RGB bitmaps.
If files containing drop shadows, PowerClip, or fountain fills spool or print incorrectly to non-PostScript or GDI printers, you can manually change the INI switch to fix the problem by following these steps:
To change the value in the ini file in the installation folder, navigate to Graphics13/config, and open corelprn.ini.
In the [Config] section, type 0 for UseDelayRender key.
Navigate to Documents and settings/USERNAME/Application Data/Corel/Graphics13/User Config, open corelprn.ini, and change the INI switch to 0 (UseDelayRender key=0) in the [Config] section.
You may have to reset the workspace by holding down F8 as you are starting the application.
Text
The Install Font From Bitstream Font Navigator Catalog option in the Panose Font Matching dialog box supports Open Type Fonts better.
Whether you insert symbol characters by using the keypad while pressing Alt or the Insert Character docker, the symbol characters will be printed and displayed correctly.
Files from earlier versions of CorelDRAW containing text in an envelope are better supported.
Notes:
When TrueDoc is used to embed fonts within a document, double-byte and bidirectional fonts are not supported.
Files created in CorelDRAW X3 build 576 containing enveloped text or text inside objects may open and flow differently in Service Pack 1. Files saved with the same text objects from Service Pack 1 and opened in build 576 may also flow differently.

Performance and automation support have been improved.

Overall performance has been improved.
It is now faster to convert an object with a Bevel effect to a bitmap.
Working in CorelDRAW with the Lens docker open is now easier.
