The Digital Photography Unleashed Boot Camp is the ultimate learning experience for improving your digital photography and your editing skills with the resulting images with Paint Shop Pro. You will learn all this information in three days of intense training at our training theater in Cave Creek, Arizona!

Classes sell out quickly. If you want a seat, register now!

All of this training for only $799! If your company sends two users, it is only $749 per camper. Send three and it is only $699 each. Four or more users pay only $649 per camper. Special: Register before July 1, 2005 and take an extra $100 off the prices listed above!

All of our computer training is done "hands off" presentation style so that you're not constantly waiting on someone else to correct their errors. We use state-of-the-art equipment and project onto a giant screen thereby allowing the students at the back of the room to see as well as those in the front. It's just as if you were looking over our shoulder. All this adds up to the fact that you will get more information in a shorter period of time so you can put it to use the minute you get back to the office. We've done over sixty boot camps so we have a very good grasp of the information users need and do our very best to get that information to boot campers.

The photography training is most definitely hands-on. You will be using your own camera; we'll teach you how to get the most from it!

CorelDRAW Boot Camp Travel Information

Travel Info

Information on flights, hotels, rental cars, weather and much more.

All classes are taught by Foster D. Coburn III, Alan Lowy and Peter McCormick.

Foster has co-authored seven best-selling books on CorelDRAW and has taught thousands of users how to get the most out of their graphics at hundreds of seminars held throughout the world and through this Web site.

Alan began as a commercial photographer in 1967. His experience encompasses catalog, fashion, product, food, interior, and architectural photography. He became especially well-known for his model portfolios and fine-art figure-in-the-environment images. For 14 years, he taught adult education classes at Michigan’s Cranbrook Institute of Science. Alan continues as an active commercial photographer. He is a Certified Photographic Consultant (CPC) and is available for model portfolios and private lessons.

Peter has an extensive background in computer art as well as traditional fine art. He has taught image creation and editing using various software since 1992. He is a published author in books and magazines and has presented at numerous graphic art conferences.

For those of you traveling from out of town, we can help you with all of your travel arrangements. Cave Creek is a very western town in the northern suburbs of Phoenix. The local hotspots include the Buffalo Chip, Fandango, Le Sans Souci, El Encanto Mexican Restaurant, the Horny Toad, The Hideaway Grill, Wild Willy's Pub & Grub, Tonto Bar & Grill, Cartwright's Sonoran Ranch House, Harold's Cave Creek Corral and the Satisfied Frog. It is also home of the world famous Black Mountain Brewery which produces the infamous Chili Beer! Golfers will find Rancho Mañana a Tiger Wood's drive away from our office. We want you to not only learn, we want you to enjoy your visit!

Some of you may think the class is a long distance from your home. We've already had Boot Campers from 49 states (plus DC), 5 Canadian provinces, Austria, Bermuda, France, Iceland, India, Russia, South Africa and the UK. If you're curious, we're missing Rhode Island. There just isn't any other training like the Boot Camp and people travel from all over the world to learn from Unleashed!

Our pick for the best place to stay during the Boot Camp is the Spur Cross Bed & Breakfast. It is about 1.5 miles away and features fantastic rooms at a special rate negotiated just for our Boot Campers. The closest is the Cave Creek Tumbleweed Hotel, about a mile away from our office. It is a small, but nice, motel very near our training facility. We provide details on these two places and a complete list of hotels, airline and transportation information so that you can start planning now.

Please let us know what you would like to learn and we will do our best to include what you want!

Digital Photography Unleashed Boot Camp Agenda

This agenda is subject to change prior to the class as we are constantly updating the information presented to bring the best to you. We welcome your input for topics to be covered. Note that each day starts at 9 a.m. and ends around 4 p.m.

Day One

The Basics: We'll cover many of the basics for getting the most from your camera and Paint Shop Pro. Learn the pros and cons of JPG and RAW. See the difference between resampling and resizing. Crop to the perfect image. Learn the techniques for correcting over and underexposed photos and the best way to make color adjustments. Learn the secrets of the Red Eye removal tool; when to use it, and when not to use it.

Clone it: This session will explore the many uses of the Clone tool from restoring damaged photos to make them look as good as or better than the original to removing unwanted portions of an image and replicating the area behind it. You will also learn how to duplicate individual parts of an image. And finally, learn a special cloning technique for cleaning up jagged edges within and around an image.

Hands-on workshop:

Photo shoot preparation: Learn what the settings on your camera mean and how to use them to get the best photos. Learn the various ways to compose an image before you shoot.

Hands on workshop: Students will work with Alan using their own cameras; learning lighting and "dress up" techniques that will make those product shots and portraits look professional without having to use expensive equipment. You will also learn how to choose the correct size image before you shoot whether you're shooting for the Web or large format prints. Alan will also be sharing with you his techniques for creating backgrounds for your subjects to save time and money.

Day Two

Effects and Selections: Selections are the core of most image editing software. These tools allow you to isolate portions of an image to either remove or modify in a myriad of ways. You will learn the secrets of the Magic Wand tool and how to take advantage of the variations offered with the Freehand selection tool. Peter will de-mystify the powerful options found in the Selections menu. Find out how to emphasize or de-emphasize areas of an image with blurs and effects using Selections. And finally, take mundane pictures and turn them into works of art while exploring the many effects available in Paint Shop Pro 9.

Working with layers: Using layers to build complex images. Adjust the Blending and Transparency controls to change the view of a layer. Erase backgrounds with the Background Eraser. Float effects with Adjustment Layers. Add vector-based objects including text. Put text on a path.

Nature photo shoot: Travel to nearby desert locations and learn how to compose great images. Learn the importance of shadows and angles. When to center the subject and when off center is best. Learn the techniques required to shoot a proper panoramic scene.

Evening photo shoot and BBQ: Gather for a great BBQ dinner and evening photo shoot around a fabulous outdoor pool and patio.

Day Three

Batch processing and scripting: Learn how easy it is to create a script in Paint Shop Pro. Once you've gotten a script, see how to apply it to batches of images. Manage your images with Paint Shop Pro Photo Album and Picasa.

Compositing techniques: Create a collage using the many techniques learned throughout the Boot Camp with various Paint Shop Pro tools and effects using the best of the images from the nature and evening shoot. Learn to tell a story or evoke a response using images.

Panorama: Create panoramic scenes from a series of photos taken by individual students on the previous days nature shoot.

Boot Camp Round Up: We'll finish up by working with images taken both in class and before class to cover the many techniques needed to fix even the toughest photos. If you have any questions remaining, we'll get you the answers you need.
