Included in Unleashed FX are a series of three hundred Corel PHOTO-PAINT 9 FX scripts. When run, you can either use them to create some fancy text of your choosing or you can apply them to any existing object in your file.
So that you'll see how powerful they are, let's run through the process of using one of the FX. When you first run one of the FX, you'll get the dialog box shown at right. If you aren't sure what to do next, just click on Help and you'll get instructions on how to proceed.
In our case, we'd like to create some patriotic text. So we'll type in the text we want in the upper right. Note that the text defaults to "PAINT", but you can change this to anything you want. You can even use symbol fonts to get some cool looking symbols. Once you've chosen the text you want, click on the Fonts button to get the dialog box at right. Now you can choose from any font you have installed on your system at any size. Note that we suggest you keep the font size at no less than 72 points to get the best looking results. You can always resize the text object after creating it if you want something smaller. The list of font sizes stops at 72 points so you have to type in the value for larger sizes.
When you have the text and font chosen, click the "Create Text" button and it will be created in a new Corel PHOTO-PAINT file as a floating object. The result of running the FX script is shown at right. We used 105 point Arial Black with "USA" as our text. Total time to create this cool effect was less than a minute!
That's great, but what if you don't want text? No problem. Prior to running the FX, create an object in Corel PHOTO-PAINT. Make sure that object is selected when you run the script. Now instead of typing text and choosing a font, simply press the "Apply to Object" button and the script will be run on your selected object. An example of applying it to a simple button is shown at right.
Remember that these FX are only for the English version of Corel PHOTO-PAINT 9. They do not work in other versions and they all require features that didn't exist in previous versions so they can't be converted. Please do not ask if FX will be released for earlier versions of Corel PHOTO-PAINT. They won't. As stated earlier, the necessary features don't exist in the earlier versions. A new version of Unleashed FX for Corel PHOTO-PAINT 11 is available.
You can download the patriotic FX script for free. These FX open up your creativity and save you a lot of time on your projects. Once you realize the excellent quality and value, you'll want to order and get all 300 FX scripts for $20.
The FX come as part of a zip file. Some of you will be very comfortable in unzipping them, while others will be confused. To unzip files, first you need a program like Winzip to do the unzipping. You can download a free copy from the Winzip site. Once you have WinZip installed, use it to unzip the files.

Download a printable reference book for all the FX! This book will help you to see all the great FX you get for one low price! An example page is shown at right. Note that clicking on the link will load the PDF file into the Acrobat Reader plug-in. It may take a minute or more to load the first page depending on the speed of your connection. We highly suggest that you save the PDF instead of loading it in your browser. To do this, right-click on the link and choose Save Link As for Netscape Navigator users and Save Target As for Microsoft Internet Explorer users. We've heard from several users that they are unable to print or save the file if they don't save it immediately. Have we made it clear enough that loading it in the browser is a bad thing?
Right-click to download catalog file (1218 KB).

The FX scripts don't really get installed as much as they get copied into the proper folder. In Windows Explorer, you need to locate the folder where you installed CorelDRAW and/or Corel PHOTO-PAINT. Inside of that folder is a folder labeled "Photopnt". Double-click on it. Now you want to find the "Scripts" folder and double-click on it. Once more, double-click on the "Scripts" folder. Now you'll see a bunch of the scripts supplied with Corel PHOTO-PAINT. We suggest that you create a new folder named "Unleashed". To do this, right-click in the window and select New | Folder from the menu that appears. Now double-click on that folder and move all the script files there. Or save them there directly as you unzip them.
If the Scripts Docker (shown at right) is not already visible on your screen, press Ctrl-F6 to open it. The first time you open the Docker, you'll see two folders labeled "Scripts" and "Effects." Double-click on Scripts. Now you should see the "Unleashed" folder. Double-click on it and you'll see all of the scripts you've downloaded. To run any of them, just double-click on the script you want to run. So as an example we want to run the "0073" script. You'll see its icon is selected in the Docker. Double-click on that icon and the FX script will start running.
If you want to enter symbols, first you need to make sure the correct symbol fonts are installed. A list of the Symbol fonts is in Corel's Libraries Catalog supplied in the CorelDRAW / Corel PHOTO-PAINT box. If you don't have them installed, visit our Fonts page to learn how to properly install them. Once installed, it can be tricky at first to type them in. Find the characters you want in the Libraries Catalog (commonly known as the clipart book). Hold down the Alt key. Keep holding it until we say to stop. Type in the symbol number making sure to include the zero character in front of the number. After you've typed all of the numbers, you can release the Alt key and the character should appear.
All of the FX will leave the text as a floating object or will simply leave the original floating object. At that point, you can make all kinds of modifications. If you do not understand what can be done; you might want to pick up a book, CD-ROM or videotape to learn more about Corel PHOTO-PAINT. The links above will help you find the best way for you to learn the product.
